October Newsletter

We had a great turn out for Back-to-School Night, thank you all for taking the time out of your busy schedules to join me that evening. I would also like to thank everyone for their generous Pioneer Pledge donations. I have been holding off submitting the donations to the CFFA treasurer until October 12, which is the due date for donations, so that they can all be processed together. If you have not turned in your pledge donation please do so by October 12th.

I have booked several field trips since Back-to-School Night and they are as follows:

Thursday, Dec. 13th, 9:30-11:30 Tule Ponds (behind the BART station on Walnut)

Wednesday, Dec. 19, 10:00-12:00 Mission San Jose Museum

Tuesday, January 15, 9:30-12:00 Starstruck Play at Ohlone College (not confirmed yet)

If you have volunteered to chaperone please make note of these dates so that you’ll be available to drive. I have not booked a field trip with Chabot Space and Science Center yet, but I am looking into it and will let everyone know when I have scheduled a field trip there. We will also have Outside Educators come to the classroom to do three presentations. One on Native Americans, one on the missions, and one on the gold rush. These programs as well as the field trips will be paid for by your Pioneer Pledge donations.

I have been working on the classroom directory and should be finished in time to go home in next Tuesday’s Folder. Many students have been forgetting textbooks and homework at home please help them be prepared for school by insuring they have packed all of their materials the night before. Thank you all for checking your child’s planner to verify you are aware of their assignments as well as checking they have completed their assignments.

I am looking forward to a wonderful successful year with your children and you.
