I.Guest Speaker Lisa Belanger-Buoniconti and Jamie Harlow

Lisa Belanger-Buoniconti and Jamie Harlow gave and update on the Staff Compensation Initiative which was followed by a question and answer session. Key points were as follows:

  • Year one of the Staff Compensation Plan was implemented in June 2015.
  • Year two of this plan is expected to be distributed to eligible staff in December 2016.
  • The Staff Compensation Plan is not a component of the annual merit program.
  • HRD has received approximately 65% of the outdated job descriptions and is working diligently to update and benchmark these descriptions.
  • HRD urged those not yet compliant to work collaboratively with the incumbent staff member as soon as possible to complete this review.

On another note, Lisa informed all thatDenise Limberger and Lynn Thibodeau (on a part-time basis) are now part of HRD. Their jobs have not changed, just their location as an internal audit found their jobs fit better under the HRD umbrella.

V.Old Business

  • Ben reported that he regrets that we could not get the two great proposals that came forward (Universal Menu for Commencement and Expand Recognition Day) off the ground. We cannot go any further with these.
  • An update on the Thanksgiving Luncheon was given. If we have it in GSU, sandwiches and etc. would run about $12.65/pp and a buffet would run us $17.00/pp. Lynn Galvin was looking into prices from off campus vendors.
  • Fundraising was mentioned again as a way to subsidize staff association functions.

VI.New Business

  • A University wide picnic is in the works. Date and time still pending. If this picnic takes place, we will be canceling our own Staff Association Picnic.
  • There will be no meeting in August.
