JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title:AssistantFamily Worker (KR3)

Job Purpose:To support the families and community team by assisting in providing community based activities for theparents and children of the local community, within the framework of the Children’s Centre and the values, aims and objectives of the school’s Christian ethos.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

  • To support the day to day organisation of Parent, Toddler and Baby Groups ensuring a safe and stimulating environment is provided for all.
  • Support the Integrated Family Support Officer in the provision of parent education groups, ensuring planning and professionalism at all times, thereby encouraging participation and expansion of the groups.
  • Support the extended school provision, ensuring the care and safety of children attending Breakfast Club, After School Club, Play Scheme as necessary.
  • Support and assist with the organisation of Parent Learning Groups, where local creative skills and knowledge can be disseminated e.g. play through art, etc.. Coordinate sessions for trainers and where necessary cover for teaching assistants or others.
  • To meet the children’s individual needs appropriate to their stage and level of development and to be involved with the planning of activities in line with the Foundation Stage guidelines.
  • Provide support to families needing an enhanced level of service and escalating any concerns in line with policies and procedures that are in place.
  • Responsible for maintain records for monitoring purposes and evaluating learning experiences and demonstrating their effectiveness.
  • Provide crèche facilities as and when necessary.
  • Ensure the Family Centre is kept clean and tidy and displays are updated regularly.
  • Nappy changing and feeding children is required as children attending will range from 6 months to 5 years. Clean up and give first aid to children in need (including cleaning up vomit and incontinence). Training will be provided where necessary.
  • To work within all appropriate policies and procedures particularly Child Protection, Health & Safety and the Children’s Centre framework.
  • Any relevant project or task which the Headteacher directs
