Year :9/10/11Subject: Spanish

Overview of the year ( 3 years GCSE)
The new GCSE Spanish specification is a linear course with no controlled assessment, so teaching and learning need to be organised very differently.
It's important to:
plan revision and recaps (thematic and linguistic)
make logical and seamless links between thematic progression and linguistic progression.
One approach is to teach the course over three years, starting in Year 9. This means more time can be given to each unit of teaching and learning in Years 9 and 10, and Year 11 can be used mainly for revision and exam preparation.
Themes and topics
There are three broad themes:
Identity and culture
Local, national, international and global areas of interest
Current and future study and employment / Ways to consolidate and extend your learning in Spanish:
Read authentic resources such as newspapers: e.g. El Paísand El Diario.es and listen to the Spanish radio. E.g. rtve. Watch appropriate Spanish films.
Encouraging your child to work on Spanish at home regularly is the best way to help your child to do well in Spanish. Revising vocabulary, completing homework set, etc. Students should read an article online of a quality newspaper once a week and build their vocabulary bank.
We have access to many online resources and at moment on the MLE network. Linguascope.com (password: legumes1, username: HighgateWS) is one of our main teaching resources to consolidate learning in class and Zut.org.uk (ID account: 2740 and password: Oye). We also like to use languagesonline.org. We have also the vocabulary and H/W which are planned to support and consolidate. In the library, you will be able to use magazines in the target language.
All students starting a GCSe course, have access to (Your password and username are
