Do some time travel – Write a Letter from the Future to Boltzmann

(creative Writing)

a) Advise Boltzmann, using your superior knowledge of hindsight that a person from the future already knows what happened next.

Use library research to ‘know’ the developments of Kinetic Theory, Thermodynamics, and Statistical Mechanics. Identify the main reason why, in your opinion, Boltzmann suicides and give the man some hope!

Address Boltzmann in a way that his character would have most effectively reacted positively toward.

Aim for 4-6 pages single lined text for part to make a good effort. Figures, etc. count separate.

b) for the last 5% of the 15% research documentation points in the final grade:

Document your library research (limited to library books and the three ejournals that our class has studied).

Document

(1) the papers you decided to use,

(2) the details of the thought processes that led you to choose your sources and your way of addressing and encouraging Boltzmann – these details should make an argument for developing a point of view.
