RAILROAD OPERATIONS AND TECHNICAL TRAINING

Manager Training Program Quality and Compliance, 2013–2015

Implemented and maintained quality assurance plan for management of staff and departmental functions, oversaw the certification program for 100 learning and development employees. Evaluated 350 training programs based on data from 3000 annual employee surveys administered using the Metrics-That-Matter Evaluation System. Determined training value using Kirkpatrick’s Evaluation Methodology and calculating ROI (Level Four). Performed quality and regulatory compliance audits to ensure training met federal, state, and OSHA compliance.

  • Succeeded in assessment of training programs that reduced training weeks, materials, administrative cost and job application time utilizing technology, in-time training videos, and job aids projected to save $1.5M.
  • Assessed centralized training center’s policies and procedures and reviewed 100 plus employee roles, 5 data management systems, federally mandated processes, and procedures and identified $500,000 in cost savings.
  • Directed annual certification programs with a completion rate of 95% and promotion rate of 10%.

Instructional Designer,2011-2013

Managed 25 to 30 projects to improve, revise, or ensure training compliance to ADDIE Training Model, adult learning principles, course objectives, learner needs, time, and budget availability. Conducted needs analysis, established business-partner relationships, defined hours, effort and resources, negotiated and wrote training proposals. Organized technical reviews,facilitated training pilots, and delivered train-the-trainer sessions for program implementation. Revitalized leadership training for management trainee program, re-wrote

curriculum, combined scenarios, added Emotional Intelligence and Personal Style assessments, individual coaching sessions, and customized course offerings that addressed performance gaps, schedule demands, and development of 250 – 400 trainees on an annual basis.

  • Developed curriculum for the organization’s General Roadmaster and Roadmaster University Training Programs and rolled out training to 700 Engineering employees. Content included human resources’ best practices, technical competencies, leadership, labor relations, budget and procurement training, increased technical skills, formalized departmental mentors, and aligned roles and responsibilities.
  • Transformed onboarding program utilizing technology, developed a website, webinars, and online modules that increased employee engagement and completion of mandatory training.

Manager Conductor Training Program

Directed a team of six employees in general human resources support for union and management employees during formal and on the job training. Supervised and trained 35 trainers and an average of 550 trainees.

  • Administered annual employee bonus of $2.5M, resulted in improved safety and attendance performance, increased productivity and reduced cost associated with incidents and discipline violations.
  • Developed and implemented the Career Progression and Planning Program for a union workforce of 33,000 employees, provided annual career advising sessions to approximately 3,000 trainees, contact rate of 99%, retention rate of 85%, and 60% fill rate for internal positions.
  • Launched and supported the organization’s Field Associate Development Program for 10 field divisions. Increased participation in this inclusion and diversity focused program by 27%.
