Course Description and Objectives:

Anatomy and Physiology II (BS114) is the second in a series of two Anatomy and Physiology courses designed to acquaint and help you master gross, microscopic, and developmental anatomy as well as physiological functions of the human body systems. In Anatomy and Physiology II, you will build upon your understanding of chemical reactions, organelle, cellular, tissue, organ, and organ system functions. This course will cover life processes and progresses through the following body systems; receptors, special senses, endocrine, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive.

This class will NOT be a series of memorized facts and figures. Each component will have to be studied and understood since every system is interrelated and completely dependent on proper function of all others. Comprehension is essential.

Policies and Expectations of Students:

Evaluation -

You will have one quiz and four exams in the lecture portion. You will have three exams in the laboratory portion. QUIZZES WILL NOT BE MADE UP. Missed exams can only be made up if the absence was an emergency and/or excused. Emergencies must have some form of validation such as a doctor’s excuse or note from your academic advisor. Examples of non-valid excuses are, “I had to work”, “I had to study for another exam”, “I don’t think I’m prepared for this exam”, “I was in Florida on vacation”, “I’m getting married on that day”. Missed (excused) LAB exams will be given during finals week. You must contact me BEFORE the next class period to schedule the make up.

NO extra credit work will be given to individuals.

Attendance –

In accordance with University policy, class attendance is expected. Occasionally, I will send around an attendance sheet. Be sure to initial or sign this sheet if you want credit for being present. You do not need to tell me if you are going to miss a class. You should identify students in the class who can pick up handouts for you and provide a copy of their notes. Attendance is important.

Coursework -

Take notes in lecture and lab. Reading assignments should be completed BEFORE the lecture and laboratory portion for which they are assigned.

Keep all returned graded papers until you get your final grade.

Respect is important; no talking during lecture. If you arrive late to class, be very quiet and discreet when entering the room and taking your seat. Do NOT enter into the classroom if you are more than 5 minutes late. This will result in 5 points deducted from your grade. Cell phones should be turned off and put away during class and exams.

Students are expected to demonstrate high professional standards. Cheating WILL NOT be tolerated. Anyone caught cheating on an exam or personal assignment will receive a grade of 0 for it and be referred for disciplinary action. This type of academic dishonesty on your record can affect your future in the school!

Note:

When sending email to me, BE SURE to include your name, course and section #.

Warning!

If I cannot read your handwriting, your answer will be counted wrong and you will loose points.
