The Controller at C & D Lumber Co. is a top level management position who is responsible for the leadership and management of the Accounting Team personnel and processes. The Controller is an integral part of our management team that manages C & D Lumber Co. in an interdependent and profitable manner.

C & D Lumber Co. is a long standing, family owned and privately held company with over 100 employees. We have one manufacturing facility consisting of a sawmill, a planer mill, dry kilns, reman and a molder.

C & D Lumber Co. is a manufacturer of high quality Douglas Fir, Incense Cedar and Port Orford Cedar Lumber Products. We are committed to mutually beneficial relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.

  • Oversee the human resources management of the accounting staff and manage payroll, A/P, A/R, fixed assets, log and lumber accounting, costaccounting, general ledger and GL reconciliations. This includes hiring, training, evaluation and scheduling of the accounting staff.
  • Work effectively as a member of the management team to analyze operating scenarios, based on current market conditions, to determine best practices and/or best economic choices for the management teamto consider.
  • Develop a system for regular management financial and profitability reporting. Supportoperations with relevant profitability analyses and reports for oversight and decision making.
  • Implement and maintain adequate and effective systems, internal controls, documentation,policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close and reporting processes. Maintain fixed asset tracking and allannual reporting requirements.
  • Liaison with outside tax advisors, outside auditors, maintain tax compliance and assist with tax planning.
  • Perform cash flow projections to effectively manage cash balances.
  • Manages employee benefits including health, dental, life, voluntary AD&D insurances; FSA, HRA accounting, and C & D's Employee retirement plan.
  • Monitor debt levels and comply with debt covenants. Government and industry compliancereporting.
  • Involved with regulatory, compliance and risk management.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience with at least 3 years of relevant managementexperience in a business setting.
  • Capable of generating ahigh degree of respect and trust across the organization, ownership, and outside stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of managerial accounting concepts and cost accounting in a manufacturingbusiness.
  • Effectively demonstrates thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. (GAAP)
  • Experience developing, implementing and overseeing accounting procedures and controls.
  • Professional level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals and to presentinformation effectively.
  • Excellent organizationalskills.

  • Proven interpersonal and coachingskills.
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level ofconfidentiality.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery andvehicles.
