General Summary

The Human Resources Generalist II administers human resources policies and procedures that cover two or more functional areas, and processes paperwork for functional areas according to established procedures.In addition, this position collects and analyzes HR data and makes recommendations to management, and prepares internal employee communications regarding compensation, benefitsand/or company policies.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Administers human resources policies and procedures that cover two or more functional areas:

Benefits:

  • Administers benefit programs, including interpreting benefit plan provisions, advising employees regarding their benefit coverage, and working directly with plan carriers in resolving insurance claim issues and settling disputes, filing documents and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Administers company’s 401(k) plan including responding to employee inquiries, coordinating new employee eligibility, investment advisor and non-participant meetings and financial management meetings/workshops, filing documents and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Administers short-term disability (STD), FMLA, Worker’s Compensation and USERRA in compliance with all legal requirements and company policy and practices. May assist with on-going investigation and resolution of workers compensation claims. Tracks and monitors leave-of-absences, temporary work reassignment, time lost, settlements, etc. Assists in compiling data and analyzing trends.

Employee Relations/Community Involvement and Volunteerism:

  • Administers employee recognition and reward programs to recognize employee milestones and contributions.
  • Assists in the coordination of special events and recognition programs for staff by coordinating committees and schedules, and staying within budget.
  • Coordinates community involvement and volunteerism efforts for the organization.

Employment Compliance:

  • Partners with department managers to maintain job descriptions and evaluations.
  • Monitors employment policies and practices to ensure regulatory compliance and revises policies and provisions in the employee handbook, as necessary. May represent the company for any unemployment claims. Assists with employment regulatory compliance reporting, i.e., EEOC, AA, etc. Works with legal counsel on employee related legal matters.
  • Partners with Sr Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources Manager to ensure Affirmative Action compliance.

Recruitment:

  • Serves as the primary contact for the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), providing technical support and training for end users. Researches and resolves user and system issues in a timely manner. Partners with HRIS Analyst to evaluate and anticipate future ATS needs of the organization, and maintains awareness of ATS trends and product development to provide recommendations for the company’s ATS utilization.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive recruitment strategy that supports the company’s immediate and long-term human capital and talent management goals.
  • Participates in internal and external recruitment and Affirmative Action outreach activities.Travels to colleges/tech schools, high schools, military bases, recruiting fairs, etc. to promote Duncan Aviation employment opportunities to potential applicants.
  • Coordinates staffing requisitions, job postings, job orders and advertisements using various media sources. Oversees compliance with Affirmative Action job posting requirements.
  • Meets regularly with department management to evaluate recruiting efforts, identify barriers, redirect activities, and/or initiate new activities to accomplish established staffing goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates with marketing and hiring team for recruiting promotional media and materials.
  1. Prepares budgetary recommendations and projections for assigned HR programs and monitors costs and budgetary items associated with assigned HR function(s).
  1. Continually evaluates current and future needs of the organization to ensure assigned functional area(s) are supporting the company’s objectives. Monitors trends of HR services, products, and programs. Researches, evaluates, and recommends best practices, programs and new processes to affect continual improvements in services and efficiency of department that support the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
  1. Assists with projects and special assignments related to assigned HR function(s) in support of the company’s strategic business objectives.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related Human Resource, Business Administration, Organizational Development or relatedfield of study or equivalent required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Project, etc.) required
  • Minimum two years previous HRor related experience required
