HOW TO PLAY BUNKO

  • Bunko is usually played with 12 people, but it can also be played with 8 people, too.It is five dollars per person to play and one dollar more if one wants to participate in Binkies.
  • If 12 people are playing, 3 tables will be needed. If 8 people are playing 2 tables are needed. Groups are divided into 4 at each table. People across from each other will be partners. Partners will change with every round.
  • One partner will be the scorekeeper for their team.
  • Each table will have 3 dice, 4 pencils, 4 score sheets, and paper to keep score.
  • One table will be the Head table that designates the beginning of the round (by the ringing of the bell) and the end of the round by a team at the Head table reaching 21 points or someone at the Head table getting Bunko.
  • Round 1 begins by the ringing of the bell at the Head table. One personwill roll all 3 dice and try to roll as many ones as possible.
  • During Round 1, 3 ones are Bunko (21 points), 1 one is 1 point, and 2 ones are 2 points. Keep track of your Bunkos. The person with the most Bunkos will win something at the end of the game.
  • During Round 1, 3 twos, 3 threes, etc. is 5 points and called a Binky. Keep track of your Binkies. The person with the most Binkies will win something at the end of the game.
  • The scorekeeper will keep track of her team scores.
  • The person keeps rolling until she doesn’t roll any more ones. Turn goes to the left.
  • At the end of the round the ‘winners’ at the table move to the next table, except at the Head table the losers move. Change partners after each round.
  • Round 2 begins the same way. Twos must be rolled. The same rules apply for Round 2, 3, 4, etc.
  • Six rounds played four times is the usual amount played, but that is totally optional.
  • After all the rounds are completed, each player adds up wins, losses, Bunkos and Binkies. The money is divided up accordingly. The one dollar for Binkies that each person has paid is in a different pot, so that amount goes just for Binkies.
  • The most important thing to remember about Bunko is that it is a mindless game played in order for friends to get together and have fun. So have fun and a lot of it!!!
