How To Make Assignments Based on RIT Scores.

1. First – you must have the strand scores for the MAP test. To get this go to the webportal and look in the One Click report for Math Strands for the most recent test or Reading Strands.

2. Log in.

3. Click on Assignments.

4. On the drop down menu go to Assignment Builder.

5. When Assignment Builder opens it will be automatically set to Odyssey Curriculum. To get Assignments based on RIT scores, go to NWEA.

6. Select the Subject Area, if applicable.

When the NWEA screen comes up, it will have a list of all of the MAP content areas – Reading, Math, and Language Arts. Click on the content you want. For example, Math Survey 6+ MN v4. (This means the Math test for grades 6 and above with alignment to the Minnesota standards version 4).

On the left side menu, you will see the various RIT bands, you could click on the appropriate RIT band for your student,

You could click on the RIT band you want from the right side menu. When you select from the right side menu you can select multiple strand areas. Hold the cursor over a blue name and the RIT scores will appear.

Click in the Select box to choose all of the strands you want to include. Scroll down the blue bar to find additional strands.

After you have selected all of the strands you want to include, click on Add Selected Tasks.

The screen below will appear showing all strands you clicked.

You need to do several things on this screen.

First select the tasks to include by clicking on the box.

Second, you can change the order in which the strands are to be completed.Hit the Update button at the top of that column after you have made changes.

Third you can decide how the strand activities will be presented to the student. Either sequentially, be sure the numbering is correct, self-select or auto-launch.

Fourth, Name this set of activities. How you name the activity depends a lot on personal style and how you will use this list of assignments. Every time you make an assignment it will be stored in the Assignment Archive. This way you can assign this activity or set of activities to other students and/or use from year to year. Assignment based on RIT scores may be labeled

NSCO211,PFA221,DSP201,SSGM211 Which means for Number Sense, Computation and Operations assignments are made for the 211-220 RIT band. For Patterns, functions and Algebra assignments are in the 221-230 band. In Data, Statistics and Probability assignments are made in the 201-210 band. And in Spatial Sense Geometry and Measurement assignments are in the 211-220 RIT range.

Finally click on Complete Assignment.

Here the title you assigned to this set of activities will appear, and you can give it a further description.

You must select the Subject Area the assignment will be filed under

And the level of the assignment.

Here you can see assignment order.

Apply order to all folders:

Show resources: - this refers to tools that are or can be available to the student – calculator, rulers, graphing calculator etc.

Draft Mode: always select no here

Show Odyssey Writer: probably no – it’s a tool for writing assignments

Show math tool kit: yes.

Choose to assign to students no. If you don’t the assignment will be found in Assignment Archive when you go to assign to students.

Click Next.

You can select to make assignment to whole classes or to individual students.

If you want to assign to whole class, click on the box in front of that class.

If you want to assign to individual students, click on the plus sign in from of the class name and the students enrolled in that class will appear.

or click on specific students.

Click Finish. A confirmation screen will appear telling you who was given the assignment.
