General Information of Japan:

The Japanese summer is hot and humid. Please take care to avoid heatstroke when going outside during the daytime by ensuring you remain adequately hydrated, etc. You can purchase beverages from vending machines or 24-hour convenience stores located throughout Tokyo. Convenience stores are open 24 hours a day and are very safe and convenient places from which to purchase anything from food to daily necessities, etc. One thing you should note is that the temperature drops in the evening and, depending on the time of day, there may be a significant difference between the daytime and nighttime temperatures. Accordingly, it is advisable to bring a jacket you can easily slip on when you go outside.

Sushi, sukiyaki (dish of sliced meat, esp. beef, fried rapidly with vegetables and sauce), shabu-shabu (Japanese variant of hot pot), tempura (fish, shellfish, or vegetables, fried in batter) and soba (Japanese noodles made from buckwheat flour) are famous Japanese foods. As the famous Tsukiji street market is located to the side of the hotel, many sushi restaurants can be found around the area. You can select a restaurant for any occasion—from upscale restaurants to kaiten sushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurants where you can eat at a reasonable price (If you inquire at the hotel front desk about sushi restaurants, they will recommend restaurants to suit all budgets).

Even relatively expensive foods such as sukiyaki, shabu-shabu and tempura, etc., can be enjoyed at lunch for half the price or less of dinner (refer to restaurant list of below). Beer halls called “beer gardens” located on the roofs and in the outdoor areas of buildings during summer are another seasonal tradition of Japan. At these beer gardens you can enjoy Japanese taishu-ryori (ordinary dishes) such as edamame (green soya beans), takoyaki (octopus dumplings), yakisoba (fried noodles), and yakitori (chicken pieces grilled on a skewer), etc.
