How to Copy Deskmail to Exchange Online in Outlook 2011 for the MAC
You must first create a PST/OLM file backup of your DeskMail folders. If you already have a backup, skip ahead to the import section.
With Outlook active, click on the File Menu and Select Export
Select Outlook for Mac Data File (.olm) and check item types you wish to export/backup.
Click on the right arrow to continue.
Do not delete items after export.
In the next window, enter an export/backup file name and select where to save the file.
Depending on the size of you Deskmail box, the export may take a few minutes to complete.
After the export process completes, click Done. You can then proceed with importing the mail into your Exchange account.
Import your Deskmail into Exchange.
If you do not already have your old Deskmail and new Exchange accounts defined in Outlook 2011 for Mac, you will first need to import your backup file.
With the Outlook application active, select File | Import command:
On the Import window, select Outlook Data File (.pst or .olm), then click on the right arrow to continue.
Select the file type to import (.pst or .olm) from the backup step above and click the right arrow to continue.
Browse to the folder where you saved your Outlook backup, select the backup file, then click on Import.
Depending on the size of the Outlook mailbox backup, it may take several minutes for the import to complete.
Click on Done once the import completes.
Verify that your import completed successfully. You will likely find the imported folder under the ON MY COMPUTER | Archived Mail folder hierarchy in a folder named after the backup file you created.
To Copy messages from your archive folder to you Exchange (Online) mailbox, highlight one/more messages, then left click the highlighted messages and drag and drop to the Exchange inbox folder.
To Move messages, perform the drag and drop procedure above while the Command button is depressed.
Once complete and copied/moved to a folder under your Exchange Inbox, you will have a copy of these older Deskmail messages on the Exchange server. Depending on the number of messages you move at a time, it may take several minutes for the copy/move to complete. You should navigate to your target Exchange Inbox folder after the copy/move to verify the process completed successfully.
