Imagine is Eastview’s Holiday Assistance Program and the 2016 Distribution Day is Saturday, December 3rd. Walk in shopping begins at 2:00 pm but guests may arrive between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm on December 3rdh. We ask that you bring a photo ID and a piece of mail from your current address. Only the registered guest will be able to shop at the appointment time. There are no phone in registrations.
If you are registered and have an appointment time that you’re unable to attend, please call 309-451-5008 and leave your name and appointment time as well as a contact phone number on the voicemail indicating you want Personal Shopping. We will have an IMAGINE team member shop for you using our Personal Shopping option at your appointed time. All orders are filled based on availability of items. Your items will be available for pick up on Monday, December 5th between 6:00 & 8:00 pm at the Eastview Food Pantry. When items are picked up a photo ID and piece of mail will be required.
2016 Disaster Mental Health Conference- will be held on November 1st and 2nd at Heartland Community College (Normal).
Day 1 of the Disaster Mental Health Conference will be Mental Health First Aid for First Responders. Seating is limited to the first 40 people to register for the training. The cost for Mental Health First Aid is $10 for McLean County residents and $40 for residents from outside of McLean County. Lunch will be provided. CEUs are anticipated.
Day 2 of the Disaster Mental Health Conference will offer a series of tracks regarding addressing functional needs, children during a disaster, and community recovery following a disaster. Dr. Robert Lusk (The Baby Fold) will provide the keynote presentation and Mike Claver (Deputy Chief and Chaplain, Danvers Fire Department) will provide the closing presentation. Registration for Day 2 is $50 with a $25 registration for students or Medical Reserve Corps volunteers. Lunch is provided. CEUs are anticipated.

New ESL Class - A new English-Learning Class is being offered on Sunday evenings from 5:00 – 6:30 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1017 N. School St., Normal, IL. This class begins on November 6, 2016.
There will be one-on-one tutoring for all ESL levels! Prospective students must register and schedule an interview/assessment. We need to know the individual's starting level in English so we can find the best tutor for each person.

Illinois Prairie Community Foundation Celebrating Local Philanthropy Workshop and Luncheon – November 15
Darrell and Donna Hartweg will be honored as the 2016 Philanthropists of the Year at the Celebrating Local Philanthropy Luncheon, noon to 1:00 pm on November 15 at the Marriott Hotel. The Hartwegs are very deserving of this recognition because of their numerous contributions of time, talent and treasure over the years. Featured speakers at the luncheon will be recipients of 2016 grants from Illinois Prairie Community Foundation.
The cost of the luncheon is $35.00 per person. The menu is roast turkey and Gouda cheese on a pretzel roll; a vegetarian option is available.
Also on November 15 is a workshop for staff, board members, volunteers, and friends of nonprofit organizations entitled, “Fundraising: One Size Does Not Fit All.” An exciting new feature this year is Table Topics, an opportunity to dig deeper into an area of interest. New Strong for Life Site - Are you looking for a strengthening exercise program that targets specific muscles that are important in every movements, such as getting out of a chair and walking? The Strong for Life program uses a 35 minute DVD consisting of warm-up, 11 strengthening exercises using Thera-Bands (color-coded elastic resistive bands that provide positive and negative force on the muscles from light to heavy resistance), and a cool down. Strong for Life now being offered at Miller Park Adult Center. This free class will be held every Tuesday and Friday from 9:15-10am. This class is opened to adults 55 and over. Volunteers are needed by a local non-profit agency that assists seniors and those with disabilities. KTB Financial Services provides money management services to people in McLean, Livingston and DeWitt Counties who are most in need, helping to keep them in their homes. More than 90% of KTB clients live on incomes below poverty level.
Volunteers of all skill levels and interests are welcome. Client-oriented activities may include: paying bills, balancing check registers, reconciling bank statements, creating budgets and spending plans, and making bank deposits for clients. Other office related functions that do not require interaction with clients could include data entry, website development, IT support, grant writing and marketing activities. Days and hours are flexible to meet the needs of the volunteer. Volunteers can make a huge difference in the lives of those KTB serves.
