Parish trip to London

Monday 13th February

How about this for a day out?

Coach to London to visit

·  Allen Hall Seminary – where Joe, our Seminarian, is studying and where our own Fr Joe also studied. Allen Hall is the oldest seminary in the world, is situated just off the Kings Road and on the site of Thomas More’s ‘Great House’. Visit to include a tour, Mass in the College Chapel and lunch in the refectory

·  Westminster Cathedral – the mother Church of the Catholic Church in England and Wales ... a quite incredible building. We will be given a 45 minute guided tour.

·  Trip on the London Eye to see London at night!

Full itinerary

6.30 Leave Sacred Heart on coach. One comfort break on way

10.30 ish Arrive Allen Hall. Give 90 minutes for a tour and talk on seminary life (this will include a couple of flights of stairs)

12.30 Mass in the college chapel

1.00 Lunch in the college Refectory. Time after lunch for people to explore the seminary more, stroll down the Kings Road (and spend money if they wish) go for a coffee in a nice cafe ....

4.00 Meet at Westminster Cathedral for a guided tour lasting 45 minutes (Allen Hall to the cathedral is a 40 min walk along the Kings Road or 10 min in shared taxis if people wish)

5.00 Sung vespers in the Cathedral (optional) or take the time to get a snack and make your way to the London Eye (the Cathedral to the Eye is 30 minutes walk or 10 minutes in a taxi)

6.00 Pre booked trip on the London Eye to see the capital at night (30 minute rotation)

7.00 Board coach at London Eye for trip back, arriving at SH at 10.30 at latest, a comfort break on the way.

Cost; £40 for an adult, £20 for an under 16 – includes coach, meal at Allen Hall, tour of the Cathedral and London Eye tickets. Does not include taxis etc if necessary and any snack in the late afternoon/evening. Sharing taxis for the two short journeys around London will be very cost-effective.

Travel will be on a 53 seater executive coach – Marshalls of Sutton – equipped with WC, climate control, hot water facility, fridge and DVD/ radio player.

If you are scared of heights and are not sure about the London Eye – be reassured that Fr Joe is terrified of heights and has been on it twice without the need for sedatives. For some reason, it is different to any other height.

Places are limited, so please return the form to book your place. Payment can be made when your return the form or at another time (cash or cheque made out to ‘Sacred Heart Church’)
