INFORMATION FOR NEW PARENTS

School Dinners

Our school dinners are excellent and our school is one of the best in the county at encouraging children to take school meals. If the quality was not right, then the children would not want to eat the meals.

Our focus is on “Healthy Eating” and, our cook, uses fresh food, vegetables and fruit whenever possible. The menu is varied and the meals are very good value. From September 2014 school meals became free to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

School Uniform

Our school uniform is very simple and helps to promote pride in the school.

· a school sweatshirt (either crew necked or hoodie), that has our logo on it

· white or blue polo shirts, shirts or blouses

· navy, grey or black trousers or skirt

· black shoes

· white or grey socks or tights (girls), grey or black socks (boys)

for PE

· white t-shirt

· navy shorts

· indoor trainers / plimsolls for indoor games

during autumn and winter terms please could children have a jumper/ sweatshirt in school for outdoor games activities?

Ordering Uniform

We have now sourced two options for parents to choose from. In each case parents can order uniform directly from the supplier at any time of the year and delivery will be made to your home address.

Uniforms Direct

Are a local supplier who can provide a wide range of items from sweatshirts and polo shirts, to waterproof fleece jackets and baseball caps. They will accept orders either by phone, on line, or in person. Please visit their website at www.school-shop.co.uk and select Hovingham from the drop down “Find My School” menu on the left hand side of the screen. You can place your order directly on line, or if you prefer by phoning 01904 607331. There is no delivery charge and goods should arrive with 3-4 days. Or, you can visit them in person –

Tesco

Alternatively, Tesco now provide a school embroidery service. Go online to www.tesco.com/clothing select “School Embroidery” from the “Kids” menu and then select Hovingham from the alphabetical list. Only sweatshirts and polo shirts are currently available. There is a delivery cost and it takes approx. 14 days.
