Job Purpose: The apprentice will work under the supervision of the three technicians, although day-to-day supervision will be delegated to one technician. This will involve a wide range of practical activities including (but not restricted to) working with computers, chemicals, laboratory glassware, other equipment and instrumentation. This is a varied role, working closely with other staff and sometimes with students.

Hours of work: 37 hours per week, term-time only
Other Info:The Laboratory Technical Apprentice will receive 1 full-day paid release to undertake anNVQ in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activitiesat Cambridge Regional College (CRC).
Salary:Scale 1, points 10 - 14on the Support Staff salary spine
Pension: Staff are enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme, a contributory scheme with the option to opt out
Key Responsibilities:
- Under supervision, to help prepare, provide and clear equipment and materials for classroom demonstrations and for student practicals, including practical exams
- To assist in laboratories as directed, to help maintain appropriate high levels of health and safety.
- To maintain tidy and well organised working environments both in laboratories and prep rooms
- To undertake general administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, maintaining attractive displays and tidying as required
- To liaise with technicians, teaching staff, Course Team Leaders and other support departments as required
General:
- To be responsible for Health and Safety within areas of own responsibility
