Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Contract:Fixed term until December 2017– The role may be extended subject to funding.

Salary: £27,553 (pro rata) per annum

Purpose of the role:

  • In conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer manage the provision of community outreach services for children and young people.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer ensure a high quality service is provided to those using the specialist outreach services, as well as relevant external agencies.
  • To manage, support and supervise a specialist outreach team.
  • To uphold all quality standards, ethos, policies and procedures of Survive.

Responsible for:Children and Young People Outreach Workers, a Freedom Programme Facilitator, sessional workers and volunteers

Key Relationships:Board of Trustees, CEO, Office and Finance Manager, all staff and volunteers and external agencies.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Operational
  1. To oversee all service users accessing our community outreach services ensuring the range of programmes address the impacts of domestic violence and abuse.
  2. To act as the key person for matters relating to the management of child protection issues.
  3. To oversee the effective delivery of specialist group work programmes for children and young people, and for those aged eighteen and above.
  4. To identify and liaise with appropriate support agencies concerned with the welfare of children and young people and to establish and maintain appropriate referral procedures and co-working for issues affecting children and young people.
  5. To oversee the provision of crèche facilities for the Freedom Programme.
  6. To oversee initial referrals to our Children and Young People’s services as required and ensure appropriate action is taken.
  7. To ensure equality of opportunity in all areas of responsibilities.
  8. To assist in the recruitment of staff as and when required.
  9. To be responsible for the support, supervision and management of the Outreach team within Survive.
Administrative
  1. To collate, analyse and present appropriate statistical data and prepare reports to ensure effective monitoring of services is possible.
  2. To implement and adhere to policy and procedures in relation to health and safety in all aspects of work including that of colleagues, service users and the general public.
  3. To participate with other staff to provide cover to the admin lines at Survive to ensure a quality service is given at the first point of contact.
  4. To provide written reports (including statistical) as required to the Chief Executive Officer, Stakeholders and Trustee Board.
Networking
  1. To raise the profile of Survive through active involvement in and networking with relevant organisations and forums as and when possible.
  2. To promote awareness about domestic abuse and Survive through the delivery of training and presentations as and when possible.
  3. To support Survive’s fundraising through active promotion of events and involvement in fundraising eventsas and when possible.

Strategic and Management

  1. To co-ordinate and supervise the Community Outreach team ensuring effective, appropriate and safe working practices(including health and safety standards) are maintained.
  2. In conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer, to ensure that the community outreach services meet the requirements of service users, funders and stakeholders.
  3. To develop and adapt in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer, appropriate policies and procedures for the effective management of the Community Outreach Service.
  4. In conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer, to seek opportunities for service development to ensure best practice and to respond to identified gaps in service provision.
  5. To assist the Chief Executive Officer with researching and the completion of relevant bids to trusts and other funding sources.

Other

  1. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with Survive staff, stakeholders and the wider community.
  2. To ensure effective and safe personal practice.
  3. Participate in relevant meetings, supervision and training as required.
  4. To ensure personal knowledge is up to date with key legislative and legal requirements.
  5. To undertake any other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer that may reasonably fall within the scope of the post

Person specification:

  1. At least four years experience of work in a relevant field.

  1. A level 4 qualification in a relevant field: i.e. Social Work, Psychology, Youth Work, Teaching. Or a level 4 qualification in a different field with an additional 2 years relevant experience (Please note that other qualifications may be relevant, you will need to clearly demonstrate this on your application form).
  2. An excellent understanding of domestic violence, and how this will affect children and young people.

  1. An understanding of equal opportunities and experience of implementing this in practice.

  1. An ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  1. Experienced and skilled in managing and developing staff and providing supervision.

  1. Strong project management skills and experience

  1. An excellent understanding of and experience in working with child protection issues.

  1. Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.

  1. Experienced in liaising effectively with other agencies and individuals.

  1. Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evening and weekend work events and meetings.

  1. Excellent time keeping and effective time management skills.

  1. An ability to be flexible and adapt to changes in the workplace.

  1. Able to self care with effective stress management strategies.

  1. Excellent administrative skills including competency in Windows based software and IT packages.

  1. You will need to travel across South Gloucestershire and surrounding area so you must have both a full driving licence and access to a vehicle or the equivalent ability to travel with reasonable adjustments.
