Class Supplies:

  • Notebook
  • Pencils, paper, and graph paper
  • TI-83 or TI-84 Calculator
  • Optional: Box of tissues and whiteboard marker in August


Grading Weights:

  • 80% Assessments (Tests, quizzes, and projects)
  • 20% Homework & Classwork & Groupwork

Final grade will be determined by Each qtr=20% & Final exam=20%

Class Expectations:

1. Follow school rules (including the Honor Code)

2. Be prepared for class and ready to participate.

3. Respect each other.

4. No food or gum. Bottled water with top is okay.

5. Complete all assignments with quality and on time.

6. Students must have agenda for hall passes.

7, Off-task work (including working on other subjects) will be confiscated and not returned.

Consequences:

Inappropriate behavior will result in parent contact, detention, or administrative action. Positive behavior is encouraged and will be rewarde

Curriculum: This year, the curriculum has changed to CCES (Common Core Essential Standards) which requires students to think more independently.

Pacing Guide

First Semester

·  Unit 1: Statistics

·  Unit 2: Algebraic Competency

·  Unit 3: Quadratics and Complex Number

·  Unit 4: Polynomials and Rational Equations

·  Semester 1 Project: Will occur during 2nd quarter

·  Semester Exam: TBA

Second Semester

·  Unit 5: Exponentials and Logarithms

·  Unit 6: More Modeling with Functions

·  Unit 7: Geometry

·  Unit 8: Trigonomety and Circles

·  Semester 2 Project: During March/April

·  Final Exam (Comprehensive of entire year)

Tidbit: It is estimated that 1/3 of the jobs for 2018 haven’t been created yet. Algebra II forces students to think logically and critically to be able to adapt to a changing job market and world.
