Today, open source software is being used by almost all organizations, large or small. It is usually the case that custom-built applications comprise of some open source codes since developers and programmers typically make use of available open source codes downloaded from the Internet to reduce development time and effort. However, little do they or their organizations realize that some open source codes come with license restrictions and carry certain obligations with their usage. And, very often, these obligations are not fulfilled by organizations and consequences could be detrimental. Mr Yip will provide some insight into this practice and what organizations need to be.
Mr Dave S. Y. Yip is the founder and president of Gamatech Limited. Gamatech is a security solution IT firm and a subsidiary of Karin Technology Holdings Limited.
