Welcome to Nursery.
Welcome to all our new families and our returning families. We hope you have had a lovely and relaxing summer holidays.
Children’s arrival at Nursery
All the children are settling well with only a few initial tears. Starting from next Monday we are asking parents to say goodbye to the children at the door and then handing children over to staff. This is to support children with their independence skills and to make the separation easier for the children. This will also help the children to learn Nursery’s routine.
Thank you for your support and understanding
Sun Protection
We have come back to nursery and the sun is stil shining (shhh!) So could the children come to nursery with sun hats with their names written inside and suncream applied before coming to nursery. Those children who are here all day will have suncream reapplied to them in the afternoon. / Workshop- Thursday 29th September-1.30
We will be having a parent/carer workshop on Thursday 29th September at 1.30. This is a good opportunity for you to spend time in nursery with your child. We will be decorating cakes to sell to help raise money for Macmillan coffee morning. / Easy fund raising.
We are using easyfundraising.org.uk to help raise money for nursery to buy exciting resources and equipment. If you search on Google for easyfundraising.org.uk, click on support a good cause and search Holy Cross Nursery Sutton Coldfield. If you use easy funding when shopping then they will send us a donation for Nursery.
Our New Topic for this half term is:
“Homes and families.“ The children will be looking at different houses, families, celebrations, animal habitats etc. We will be organising workshops to support this topic. We will inform you of the date soon.
/ Family Celebrations and Culture
We have had many lovely new families start with us, so we thought it would be nice to ask you about your families’ celebrations, culture and family backgrounds. This would link with our new topic and support the eyfs development area of Understanding the World- People and Communities. If you have anything that could be shared with us to look at, listen to, taste etc we would love you bring it in for us in nursery, for the children to experience.
Thank you for your support
Absences
Reporting Absences
If you child is absent for any reason could you please contact nursery office on the day of absence. In line with our safe guarding policy and good practice we have a duty to record absences.
Thank you for your support. / Toys in Nursery
We try and encourage children to keep toys and other loved items such as teddies, blanket’s etc at home. This is to prevent children getting very upset if they get lost or damaged. If children like a particular toy to hold, we can look in nursery if we have got the toy here for the children to have whist they are settling.
Holy Cross Nursery Website
holycross-preschool.com
We have a Nursery website that you can search for information, letters, activities and celebrations in nursery. Any trips, parent lunches etc the letters will be on our website for you to print, complete and send to us. Invoices will be sent to you as paper form every half term in the first week, we can email you your invoices if you prefer. Just inform the office. Day to Day information will be written up on the whiteboards outside nursery / Uniform/Pe Kit/Wellies
The children will be participating in PE and Forest School. The children will need pumps in a nursery PE bag and wellington boots to be in kept in nursery for these lessons. The children all look so smart and grown up in their uniforms, if any of you are still waiting for uniform from Mapac then inform Ms Gordon in the office.
/ Children’s Birthday’s
In nursery we celebrate the children’s birthday by making cakes together for all the children. We sing happy birthday to the children whilst they wear a birthday hat! We would prefer the children didn’t bring in sweets or cakes from home because it’s difficult to monitor what ingredients are in the sweets/cakes for dietary requirements.
Thank You
Polite Reminders
If you have not already provided a copy of your child’s birth certificate can you please bring a copy to the office as soon as possible. This is a requirement for funding and also an Ofsted regulation. Thank You
Food/Drink
Could we ask that you don’t place food or drink in your child’s bag. The children have snack twice a day and they have access to their own water bottle. These have their name and picture on to help the children find their bottles. Thank you
