PARIS

Paris - the capital of France - is a fantastic place for a holiday. Of course there are so many magical sites, there is no way to describe them all. You must see :

The Louvre Museum.

There is not only the famous Mona Lisa (or Gioconda) in the Louvre, but also the laws of Hammurabi, Venus from Milo and sphinxes. The museum is divided into ten sections- Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Ancient Far East, the art of Islam, sculptures, drawing, painting, handicraft and graphic arts. This museum is really big and really interesting!

Parc Asterix

styleIn Parc Asterix you can go to the Village of Galls. You can play on the roller coasters, carousels and in the haunted house. You can also visit shops with souvenirs (of course with Asterix, Obelix, Panoramix), restaurants, shows, and dolphin shows. People dressed as characters from comics are walking through the park. It’s really a fantastic and funny place!

Museum de Orsay

This is an art museum. You can find pictures (for example „Impression” by Monet), sculptures, drawings, projects and models of buildings. The museum is not as impressive as the Louvre, but I think it is fascinating, and not only for people who are interested in art.

The Eiffel Tower

Everybody knows what it is. This is the symbol of Paris. You must go there because the Eiffel Tower is fantastic! It is 324 metres high and made of iron. The view from the tower is amazing; if you go there you will never forget it.

INCREDIBLE BUILDINGS

by Pola Biblis

There are some amazing, creative buildings around the world:

Dancing House in Prague

Sometimes it is called “Ginger and Fred” in honor of the famous dancers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. The building seems to be dancing. It was designed by Frank Gehry. In the “dancing house” there is office space, a cafe and a restaurant with an observation deck.

style The Big Duck

In Flanders (USA) there is a fantastic building! It’s shaped like a big, white duck! There used to be a shop with ducks and their eggs. Now the shop is closed, but “The Big Duck” is very famous.

Lucy the Elephant

This building is in the form of a big elephant! It is located near the beach in Josephine Harron Park in Margate (New Jersey, USA). It was built in 1881 and its task was to attract tourists. Inside Lucy’s legs there are staircases. The building is divided into six stories.

Gali Tower (Torre Galatea)

In Madrid, Spain there is a museum of Salvador Dali-the famous painter. There is an amazing tower with… Eggs! Dali liked eggs and bread in art because he thought they were the symbols of life.

Portugal

/by Paulina Lipowska/

The best place you can go on holidays is Lizbona. Lizbona is the capital of Portugal. In Lizbona there is the biggest aquarium (oceanarium) in Europe. There are many monuments you should see.

One of such things is Torre de Belem. Next to Torre de Belem there is the Monument to the Discoveries. This places is so beautiful that it is hard to describe (opisać). You really need to see this.

CHILDREN ALL OVER THE WORLD

by Magda Dziergowska

AFGHANISTAN:

The war in Afghanistan started 10 years ago. The situation isn’t simple. A lot of people die, children too . There are not enough schools or hospitals in Afghanistan. Some families don’t even have houses so they live in camps for refugees. The youngest children don’t know what ‘peace’ means . Holidays in Afghanistan are in winter because children don’t have shoes to walk on snow. Not only war is killing them but also winter. Mr Del Agha says: ‘ This winter was very cold. Some people and also children died’ . He is afraid about his three-month old daughter.

16 OF JUNE IS THE DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD.

This day recalls about massacre in Soweto in 1991. On that day we play games or we grumble about schools. We also eat hamburgers and do other nice things. Many children in Africa don’t know what school is.(Don’t think it is good…) They live in primitive houses, sometimes in shelters or on the streets. Many of African children are manourished, ill or neglected. (In many places they don’t have medical care and they die because of different diseases ).

In some places there isn’t water. They have to walk for many kilometers to get a pot of water. Children in Africa work when they are very young. They often work for 15 hours a day. They don’t get money but food. Every year many children die at work. 41% of five- year old to fourteen- year old children have to work for their alimentation.

NEPAL:

This is Matina Shakya - Kumari Dewi. People in Nepal worship her because they believe that a god Dewi lives in her body. When she grows up she won’t be worshiped. They believe also that when something strange happened to Kumari it would mean that Dewi left her. In Nepal there are many Kumaries but the most famous is Kumari Royal.
