Directions: Choose one of the following writing prompts and write a DETAILED essay or story. Your paper should be no more than 500 words and no fewer than 250.
1. You are walking home from a late movie, and you have to cut through a cemetery. Describe your experience.
2. You have 7 friends coming to your house to spend the night. What do you do to get ready?
3. Imagine you are walking outside. A spring storm is coming. Describe for your classmates what you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch.
4. Everyone needs help sometimes. Write a story about what happened one time when someone helped you.
5. Most of us have worn something we did not want to wear. Write a story about what happened one time when you had to wear something you did not want to wear.
6. Everyone has lost something. Tell about what happened the time you or someone else lost something.
7. Describe your best outfit of clothing and the ideal place you would wear this outfit.
8. Think back to your first day in school (first grade or kindergarten) and relate what happened that day.
9. You have just been rescued after being lost for 24 hours. Relate what happened that made you scared.
10. Most people have a place where they feel comfortable and relaxed. Think of a place where you feel comfortable and relaxed. Picture it in your mind. In a composition, describe this place for your classmates so that they can imagine what it is like and how you feel there.
11. Think about your favorite season, and then write an essay describing that season. Include sensory details so that a reader can imagine what it is like to experience the season, and make sure it is clear from your description why this season is your favorite.
