HISTORY WEEK POSTER INSTRUCTIONS
You will make a poster, on a full-sheet of poster board, that illustrates the theme “Historical Characters.”
Your poster must be about a person that you study in your history class this year. This poster must be an original product for this assignment. It may not be something made for a previous project or year.
On the back of the poster, list:

●Your Teacher’s Name
●Your History Class Period
Judging and Grading Criteria
1. Paragraph (35 Points)
●Type a half sheet autobiographical paragraph of the person you chose.
●This should be written in first person using “I”, “me”, “my” and should be in your own words.
●Include:
a. background information
b. your most important contribution
c. a sentence that specifically states why you are important to the study of history.
This is the last sentence of your autobiography and should begin: “I am important to history because...”
●Make sure you are historically accurate.
●Spelling and grammar will count, so make sure you proofread your material.
●Use 1” margins
●Single space
●Attach paragraph securely and neatly to the front of the poster.
●Do not use Wikipedia as a source.
●Include a Works Cited (10 points)
After your paragraph, return twice and type Works Cited. List the sources you used using proper MLA format.
2.Illustration (35 Points)
●Your illustration(s) should include a contribution or an event that made your historical character/person historically important.
●This must be your own drawings and illustrations. Do not use computer generated images, magazine pictures, or Xerox images.
3.Title of Poster (10 Points)
●Name of your historical character
●Include a subtitle that reflects why the person was historically significant.
Points will be deducted if the person’s name is the only title.
4. Neatness of written work and Poster (5 Points)
●Coloring, lettering, printing, items attached to poster, etc. will be evaluated.
●You will lose points if any of the poster is completed in pencil.
5. Overall Effect (5 Points)
●This includes originality, creativity, and presentation.
When you turn in your poster board, please refrain from rolling it.
Keep the poster board flat.
