Hispanic Heritage Project

Felipe Alou is considered a first generation Spanish speaker in the US. This means that he was the first of his family to travel to the States and the first of his family to face the challenges that are associated with immigration and assimilation. In this project you will choose another FIRST GENERATION HISPANIC AMERICAN and present their story.

Step 1: Choose a First Generation Hispanic American to research. This can be someone in any field (sports, arts, entertainment, culinary, politics, or other area). Find out where this person is originally from and have your person approved by your Spanish teacher. No repeats are allowed within each class.

Step 4: Create 2 descriptive (imperfect) sentences for each one of the life events listed on the timeline. Some of these sentences can be created by using the adjectives listed above.

Step # 5: Now combine all of your sentences from the timeline and your descriptive sentences about each event and create a 2-3 paragraph summary of the person’s life as found in your research. You should turn in a hand written final draft on your own sheet of paper.

Step #6:

Create a visual representation that portrays the life of your person. You should include a picture of him/her, as well as a collage of images and/or words that represent his/her life. Also include his/her name.Use a sheet of paper NO BIGGER THAN the size of printer or construction paper. On the back, you must include a list of all sources used in your project.
