Official opening of sports facilities by

Ex-England International Netball player and coach;

Olivia Murphy

Hinckley Ladies Netball Club were proud to welcome England Netball team coach and ex-England player and captain; Olivia Murphy to officially open their new playing facilities at Leicester Road Sports Club.

Since establishing in 1975 Hinckley Ladies Netball Club has operated from rented playing facilities in various locations across Warwickshire and Leicestershire. Staying true to its roots in Hinckley and for the first time in its history the club can now proudly boast its own ground. The club has worked tirelessly for this cause over the past two years to raise over £75,000 via local fundraising and grant funding from partners at; ‘Sport England’ (places, people, play initiative), ‘Sported’ and ‘Leicestershire & Rutland Sport’ (Leicestershire Legacy Fund).

A speech from Chairperson Julia Waite emphasised the importance of these courts to the club and the community and thanked all who had helped. Special guest Olivia Murphy who performed the official ribbon cutting also commented on the importance of clubs such as Hinckley Ladies. Players of the club then took the court to try out the new facilities and couldn’t have been happier.

The club would like to thank everyone who has helped make this possible, from friends and family of club members to all our supporting partners. We hope to continue to increase participation of our sport in the local community and hope this fantastic new ground will enable this.
