Beaufort County Toastmasters Clubs Tie for Best Area in South Carolina

and Kathy Diello Named Area Governor of the Year

July 27, 2015. Beaufort County’s four Toastmasters International clubs combined to earn the highest possible honor for the fiscal year ending June 30. Of the 26 Areas in South Carolina, only two attained the distinction of President’s Distinguished Area.

To attain that status, an area must have more than 50% of its clubs earn Distinguished Club status and the area must grow by at least one additional club. Beaufort County’s (Area 15) scores for the year ending June 30 were:

  • Both the Fast Trackers of Hilton Head and the Bluffton Speech Achievers attained the status of President’s Distinguished Club, the highest level in Toastmasters.
  • The Leadership and Public Speaking Toastmasters Club of Beaufort reached Distinguished Club status.
  • First Service Toastmasters, a closed corporate club received its charter in May.
  • All additional goals pertaining to club functions and administration were met.

Club status is based primarily on the educational achievements of individual members, plus some administrative club functions.

In recognition of the Area 15 (Beaufort County) performance, Kathy Diello, outgoing Area Governor, was named Toastmaster International’s Area Governor of the Year for the State of South Carolina. It was a big year for the Bluffton resident who also reached the highest level of personal attainment in Toastmasters International, the Distinguished Toastmaster Award.

Ms. Diello said “individuals are much more likely to succeed in a club that has both a culture and history of success. This President’s Distinguished Area is evidence that Beaufort County is now home to four such clubs in which anyone seeking to improve his or her communication or leaderships skills can visit any of the clubs in our area and find a supportive learn-by-doing environment that allows each individual to achieve personal goals at a personal pace.”
