HOSA BOARD MEETING

MINUTES 08-09-2015

Attendance:

Vernon Anthony, Laura Anthony (proxy for Randy Eidemiller), Ed Porter, Bill Morris, Keith Stewart, Kim Gajda

Visitors: Dwight Burgess, Lonnie Freeman, Dan Brady, Corey Poe, Carly Pries, Ray Studer, Francis Ubadineke

Motion made by Ed Porter to approve 07-12-2015. Second made by Laura Anthony. Motion approved.

New Business

-  Dan Brady discuss Darby soccer and HOSA

Dan Brady, Hilliard Darby High School Girls Soccer Head Coach, made a proposal for Darby Girls Soccer to work with HOSA including bringing their players to assist with TOPSoccer. Other suggestions include a HOSA night at Darby where players would be recognized, a canned food drive and they would hold a juggle-a-thon and portion of proceeds would be donated to the Hilliard Food Pantry. Juggle-a-thon tentative date of October 4th.

-  Lonnie Freeman discuss photography

Lonnie Freeman, local Hilliard, photographer, presented various photography products he could make available. Named quality, service and reliability as reasons to go back to using him for the HRSL pictures. He mentioned many other local Hilliard leagues that he takes the pictures for.

-  Meet candidates for open Board positions and Treasurer Position

Board Candidates Francis Ubadineke (special interest in Treasurer), Corey Poe, Carly Pries, Ray Studer introduced themselves.

Bill Morse made a motion to add Corey Poe, Carly Pries and Ray Studer to the Board, Keith Stewart seconded. Motion approved.

-  Attached task force action items and status

Ed reported on the formation of task force to reorganize HOSA board.

Discussion was held with our Accountant Dale Rice regarding contractor relationship

Changing bylaws from a trustee to committee relationship

Referee program for HRSL will be undergoing change. Referee scheduler is not responding. We need to identify referees who have and want to continue working the rec games.

Dwight Burgess mentioned the need to train HRSL referees in house and not require licensed referees for HRSL games.

Report on Camps – The goal was 50 players and we ended up with 105 players registered.

Gary Avedikian is offering a technical training camp for HRSL coaches on August 12 – 14th.

-  Soccer First request for promotion assistance

Soccer First would like to talk with HOSA to help promote their programs to Hilliard families.

Vern suggested HOSA create a proposal document that could be distributed to provide necessary information.

-  Dwight Burgess: Progress update

Ohio Health process is going well. Will be doing baseline concussion screening for our competitive program. Are providing HFC coaches with first aid kits. Will also be offering First Aid and CPR training to coaches.

Columbus Crew Foundation has been approached about developing a Miracle Field for TOPSoccer.

Insurance policies are due for renewal. Dwight and Vern met with our provider to have questions answered.

City of Hilliard looking to eventually sell current complex and work with HOSA to build a new facility with a long term goal of bringing in more events.

Keith Stewart made a motion to extend 90 minute meeting by 15 minutes, Second made by Bill Morse. Motion passed.

Vern asked for a volunteer to chair a social event. Bill and Dwight agreed to look into the possibility of a movie night.

Old Business

-  Challenger Camp resolution

We will honor the final year of the Challenger Camp contract in 2016.

-  USYSA Risk Analysis forms: complete

All coaches and board members are being reminded to complete.

Program Business

Referee Program : 13 new referees trained

Director of HFC:

MSSA/HSSA: no report;

Public Relations (CRPRC)/Marketing:

Food trucks will be at complex this season; the overall survey results were good. 3 different food vendors will be there.

Donato’s spirit night for Wednesday, August 13, 20% donated back

Director of Recreational Program: 104 teams

Junior Academy: staff is covered

TOPSoccer: no report

Fields-City of Hilliard/Columbus: we are good
