193 Students Advance to the Semifinal Round
The University of the West Indies, in collaboration with Sterling Asset Management, has completed the First Round Examination in the 2011 Jamaican Mathematical Olympiad. Approximately 440 students were selected for this round, which was held on March 5, 2011. These students came from a total of 39 high schools throughout Jamaica. After assessing the First-Round examination scripts, the Department of Mathematics has determined that 193 students will advance to the Semifinal Round. These students come from a total of 33 high schools in Jamaica.
The Semifinal Round consists of two events. The first is a problem-solving workshop to be conducted by the Department of Mathematics. This will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 10 am to 3 pm at the UWI, Mona Campus. The second event is the Semifinal Round examination. This will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, starting at 10:15 am at the UWI, Mona Campus. The examination will last for two hours.

Students, parents, teachers or others who believe that this list may be inaccurate or incomplete are asked to contact the Department of Mathematics at the UWI, Mona, at their earliest convenience.
