DOODLE
FADE IN:
1.ENT. CLASSROOM. DAY
The scene is in a classroom in the early evening. People are coming into class and we focus on a table. On the table we see a black ball point pen. The pen looks to be new and had a piece of paper attached to it. We can’t read what it says. Still focused on the pen we see a figure step in the doorway. We take the focus off the pen and on the figure in the door way its JOE GOODMAN. He has a confused looked on his face as he notices the new pen on his desk. He walks to his desk and sits down.
From his POV. He picks up the pen fiddles with it and notices the piece of paper attached to it JOE reads it. It reads ENJOY in big bold capitalized letters. JOE flips it over to see who its from. The other side of paper is blank. Still confused he looks around to see if anyone looks suspicious. Everyone looks to be into there own thing and oblivious to JOE. He look over to his right at D who is sitting next to him and asks him about the pen.
JOE
Hey D, did you see who put this pen on my desk?
D
No, it was here when I got here. Why its just a pen
JOE
Yeah, I know its just weird.
D seem to fade his interest because before JOE could finish D was back into his book. JOE takes this as a sign and gets his stuff out for class.
The bell rings.
Mr. WILLIAMS looks up from what he’s doing
MR. WILLIAMS
( to the class)
Ok, everyone get your pencils out its lecture time.
The class collectively groans
JOE looks at his new pen and shakes his head.
JOE decides not to use it. He grabs a different pen out of his bag and begins writing.
Time passes by and JOE sees that the pen he’s using has run out of ink.
JOE
(shaking and looking at pen)
Ah, man not now
JOE looks over at the new pen on the desk and picks it up looks at it and starts using it.
MR. WILLIAMS continuing his endless lecture. JOE gets bored and starts doodling with his new pen. JOE starts doodling MR. WILLIAMS mimicking what he’s doing with the lecture but instead of writing what he actually writes JOE has him write MR. WILLIAMS LIKES TO WEAR WOMANS UNDERWEAR.
JOE hears laughter and looks around and see everyone laughing and pointing to the front of the room.
JOE looks at the board and sees what everyone is laughing about. MR. WILLIAMS wrote everything that he had doodled. JOE looks at the doodle.
JOE
Did I just do that?
JOE looks at the pen.
JOE
(To the pen)
Or did you?
JOE now feeling like he has to tell someone looks over at D and tells him about what just happened.
JOE
(showing the doodle to him)
I think I made MR. Williams write that on the board. With this pen
D looks at the picture JOE drew.
D
Yeah right, prove it
JOE
What?
D
Draw something else
JOE
Fine.
JOE takes the pen and begins to draw. When he is finished he looks over at D
JOE
Look over at Billy
D looks over at Billy and sees him get out of his chair and begin to moon walk down the aisle.
As D looks back JOE’S is holding the picture towards D and it is of Billy moon walking.
The class again abrupt with laughter.
MR. WILLIAMS
(to the class)
Alright everyone calm down and Billy could you please sit down
BILLY
Sorry Mr. Williams I don’t know what
Came over me.
Billy sits down and buries is head in his arms in embarrassment
D looks over at JOE with a happy look.
D
Ok I was wrong, you were
Right.
JOE
Thank you, that’s all I was looking for
JOE begins to put the pen away and ask someone for another one.
D
(confused)
What are you doing?
JOE
I’m putting this away I’ve had my fun
Now playtimes over. Plus I think I scarred
Billy, he doesn’t look ok over there
D looks over at BILLY and then back at JOE
D
Who cares about Billy he’s a jerk
He deserves to be messed with.
Who can we mess with next.
JOE
No one I’m done with this I never should of used it
In the first place I don’t know what I was thinking
D
Come on one more this is getting fun.
JOE
No, D I’m done.
D begins to look around the room and stops behind him and looks at MELANIE STONE. He gives a wave to her and she waves back. This gives D an Idea.
D
(to Joe)
What if you made Melanie Stone give you a
Kiss and her number?
JOE
What?
D
don’t play stupid I’ve seen how you look
at her. You like her.
JOE
I…how.. No I don’t
D
Its pretty obvious
That you do and you now
Have a tool that can make her like you man
JOE didn’t want to admit it but D had a point. JOE stealthy takes a look at MELANIE and then at D
JOE
Ok but this is the last one
JOE grabs the pen and begins to draw. When he’s done he looks at D showing him what he’s drawn
A minute goes by and JOE feels something on his cheek its MELANIE
MELANIE
(throwing a piece of paper towards Joe)
Call me
D has a look of happiness as these events are taking place.
For third time the class breaks out with laughter.
MELANIE realizing what she’s done sits down and with a bewildered look on her face not knowing what she just did.
MR. WILLIAMS
(yelling)
One more outbreak like that and you will all be in detention
JOE seeing that what he’s done is not good decides to put the pen away for good.
D
(to Joe)
What are you doing you can’t stop now
its just getting to be fun.
.JOE
Yes I can my actions are causing trouble
D
(Giving a sly smile)
I know isn’t it fun
JOE
(angry)
No its not fun what’s wrong with you?
MR. WILLIAMS notices what JOE and D being disruptive and addresses them
MR. WILLIAMS
MR. Joseph and Mr. Damian I believe
you two just volunteered for detention.
JOE glazing over the fact that he has detention notices what MR. WILLIAMS just called D.
JOE
(to D)
Your name is Damian.
D
Yep
JOE
As in the Damian?
D
The one and only.
JOE starts to get nervous now and begins to slowly move away from DAMIAN but DAMIAN grabs his arm.
DAMIAN
And where do you think your going?
JOE
(nervous)
No where I have to use the bathroom
DAMIAN
Nice try I don’t believe you.
JOE
(getting truly terrified)
What do you want from me?
DAMIAN
Joe I don’t want anything from you, I’m here to recruit you.
JOE
Recruit me for what.
DAMIAN
Oh, I think you know. You see Joe I’ve had my
Eye on you for a while now and I saw potential in you
JOE
I’m not doing anything for you.
Damian
Oh, but I think you are Joe.
JOE
You can’t make me.
DAMIAN
On the contrary Joe I just did. You see when you
Touched that pen you instantly became mine
JOE face is of complete shock at the information he has just heard.
DAMIAN then leans back and lets out a big maniacal laugh.
Cut to JOE waking up feeling a little groggy looks around notices DAMIAN is not longer next to him and that everything seems to be back to normal
JOE
(to himself)
It was all a dream
As JOE says that he notices someone in front of his desk crouched down. The person gets up.
DAMIAN
(to Joe holding the pen)
I think you dropped this
JOE notices who it is
JOE
(screaming)
Nooooooooooooooo.
