Here We Have Left Kyser Hall and Are Walking Along the Bluff

Chaplins Lake Walk, 2010

The Geography 2010-Physical Geography class for the Fall semester 2010 took a short field walk to Chaplins Lake on the Northwestern State University campus. The lake is a remnant stream, which has been dammed at both ends, but the landscape still has many of the major components of a stream visible in the landscape. We were studying stream components, and so we took a short walk on a cool morning. It was a beautiful day!

Here we have left Kyser Hall and are walking along the bluff.

We are walking past the WRAC, heading down towards the stream.

Here we are standing between the bluff and a stream terrace that we are walking towards.

We are walking towards the natural levee, and you can see the stream terrace on the

right, clearly seen on the road as it makes its way towards the bluff.

Students are crossing the road which is on the natural levee, heading for the stream itself.

Here we are on the edge of the stream. You can see Chaplins Lake behind us. It was a

great class, and the students worked hard all semester.
