Burglary
This month we have had seven burglary dwellings so far. Two of these incidents occurred at Lower Cookham Road, (overnight) another nearby at Ray Mead Road, (overnight), The Avenue, (overnight) Vicarage Road, (evening) Australia Avenue, (day time) and Cliveden Mead. (evening) A garage was also broken into at Evenlode.

You can take some simple and cost-effective steps to tighten your home security and dramatically reduce your chances of becoming a victim of burglary. The same applies if your home has been broken into before – please address any weaknesses in your home security.
Thames Valley Police’s ‘Safer Homes’ campaign aims to raise awareness among householders about what you can do to prevent and reduce burglary.
At least 80 per cent of burglaries are committed by amateur opportunists who take advantage of open or vulnerable doors and windows, keys left in insecure ‘hiding places’, and unlocked side gates, for example.
In around 25 per cent of break-ins, particularly those that take place in the spring and summer, entry is gained through insecure doors and windows, especially at the rear of the property.
On 19 March a high visibility operation took place to target Asian jewellery burglaries which have occurred across Maidenhead. PSCOs Miller and Hickman concentrated patrols in the Laggan and Cordwallis area, whilst giving out crime prevention literature to members of the Asian community.

Theft from motor vehicle
This is still causing concern for the area, reported incidents have occurred in the following roads, Penyston Road, Riseley Road, Gordon Road, Belmont Cresent, Ray Park Road and two in Deerswood.
We have a very simple message to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of auto crime, remove all valuables at all times, (including from boot area) park in a well lit area and check you have secured your vehicles.
Anti Social Behaviour
The latest statistics for our area indicate that reported incidents of anti social behaviour are relatively low, in spite of winter snow fall. (snowball incidents)

Related incidents have occurred at North Town Moor, Boulters public car park, (vehicles displaying) and noisey parties taking palce at Ray Lea Road, Stonefield Park and Ellington Park. Operation Legless takes place every weekend across Maidenhead. Police Officers and PCSO’s target hotspot areas with extra patrols and take a zero – tolerance approach in dealing with related incidents.

The team continue to monitor various locations such as Evenlode, Cope Court and Ellington Park due to occasional reoccurring issues.
Road Safety
PCSO Miller organised a multi agency meeting which was held at Claires Court School on Ray Mill Road East earlier in the month. The meeting was held to discuss ongoing issues raised by the Neighbourhood Action Group and was a success. It was chaired by PC Roberts and looked closely at parking issues outside the school and discussed ideas for a 20 mph zone in the immediate area.
Parking warning letters at Belmont Crescent and Risborough Road. PCSOs Hickman and Connor have kept an eye on a part of Courthouse Road, following reports of inconsiderate parking by a local business.
PCSO Hickman reported two cars to DVLA at Courthouse Road and St Marks Road for having no valid road tax.

Other news
PCSO Hickman carried out an environmental visual audit at Bridge Road, after the monthly Have Your Say meeting. There were no issues to report.
Extra street lighting has now been installed at Laggan Road field; this was initially requested by members of the local community 18 months ago during a visual audit of the area.
PCSO Miller reported a large amount of drug paraphernalia to Peter Murkin which was located in bushes on Kennet Road. Also, three dumped trolleys at Evenlode have been reported to Street Care.
Scrap metal thieves have targeted St Lukes School, St Josephs Church and Magnet Leisure Centre. Luckily the lead has been recovered stashed nearby. For advice on how to reduce your chances of becoming a victim of scrap metal theft call 101 and ask to be put through to someone from your local neighbourhood team.
PCSO Miller located a wanted male whilst on patrols in Poplars Grove, he was wanted on a fail to appear warrant by another force. PC Nogami attended the location and arrested him.

Forthcoming events
PCSO Miller has organised a community football match at Maidenhead United, York Road on 25 April. The match will kick off at 7.30pm and will see officers from across Berkshire pit their skills against a local youth team. Please feel free to come along, it will be free entry.
PCSO Miller will be doing a Crime Prevention talk, to a community group at Wamdsad in the coming weeks.
