As 100 Christian leaders gathered at Lambeth Palace to pray for HOPE 2014, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby took a prophetic view. He spoke of the UK 50 years from now - describing his 2063 dream Church as united, forgiving, sacrificial, and risk-taking; spreading and being good news, with a renewed emphasis on prayer, evangelism and reconciliation.To hear him, watch this video (from 13.20 minutes in).

TV: The Bible on channel 5

THE BIBLE is an epic 10-hour mini-series that brings to life the dramatic tales of faith and courage in the most widely-read book of all time. THE BIBLE attracted over 100 million viewers in the USA, making it the most watched programme in television history. In December 2013 it arrives on our TV screens in the UK.See a trailer here and more information.

Get in the picture

An initiative encouraging churches to set up a nativity scene in their town and inviteindividuals and families to dress up and be part of the scene. Aphoto is taken and uploaded to the 'Get in the Picture' website forthem to print or email to friends, free of charge. The website also has links to information about the Christianfaith, and news about Christmas services in the local area. Provides good advice about photos, permissions and process and a registration fee. To find out more, click here.

SGM Lifewords: “Light up” – Christmas resource for 2013

“Our passion is to see the Bible freely shared – changing lives and helping people come to know Jesus. We produce literature resources, develop mission programmes for marginalised communities, and pioneer new ways for people to explore the Bible in their own language and culture.”

Light up is a book of ten postcards featuring contemporary news images linked with scripture verses that reflect Jesus as the light of the world. These postcards, which can be given away as a pack or separated to be sent individually, are designed to help Christians share the light of Jesus’ love with friends and family and at events this Christmas. Church Growth – Two Courses in 2014
