Haiti Project
Our school collected $1,355.97 for the Haiti Project. This is quite an accomplishment considering the small size of our school. The money was donated to Doctors Without Borders to be used to help the earthquake victims in Haiti. Thanks to everyone who made this large donation possible.
Daylight Savings Time
Daylight savings time begins this Sunday, March 14th. Remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday night, March 13th.
SACS Team
We will have a team of visitors from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools here on March 16th and 17th. This visit is necessary to maintain our SACS accreditation. The team will visit classrooms and will talk with teachers, students and selected parents about Old Shell Road Magnet School and its programs. We have been preparing for this visit for months and we are looking forward to “showing off” our great school!
SAT/ARMT Testing
Beginning Tuesday, March 23rd and continuing through Wednesday, March 31st, all third grade students will be taking the ARMT and the SAT 10 tests. Teachers have been preparing students all year for these important tests. How well our students do on these tests will determine our school’s AYP status for the next school year. Our goal is for 100% of our students to score in levels 3 or 4 on both the reading and math tests and we are confident that we can reach this goal. Please continue to stress the importance of these tests with your child(ren).
Spring Program
Our spring performance will be held on Thursday, May 6th at 7:00 PM. The performance will be held at the Civic Center Theatre. This is a required performance for all of our students.
