Here Are a Few Items I Wanted to Pass Along

MRTC News May2018

Hello MRTC Instructors !

Here are a few items I wanted to pass along…

Ric Chiodo our new MRTC staff has made some upgrades to the website. Please take a look at the ACLS, BLS, PALS and Ordering Materials sections. There are writable pdf Profile forms under ACLS/BLS/PALS then “Printable and Fill-in pdf Forms”.

Our database is also getting some upgrades. For security reasons the default password mr32cc is going away. The new initial default is the email you are currently using with the MRTC. Then it will prompt you to change your password. So when you go to log in if you already changed the temp password to something other than mr32cc, then no change for you. But if you have never changed your temp password, it will be changed for you, to your email. Everyone will still enter their MRTC number in the top field each time you log in.

All BLS instructors, note there is now a BLS renewal course DVD that you can purchase to add to the BLS Provider Course DVD you already have. AHA also recently came out with both DVD packaged together.

MN DHS is requiring that all licensed daycare providers have a CPR/First Aid card that indicates that pediatric modules were covered. The HS Pediatric FA (CPR/AED) certainly does, but if you teach the regular HS FA/CPR/AED course be sure the paper card indicates the ped. modules and with the eCard you check all the ped. modules when you issue the card.

To clarify our PALS instructors teach PALS & PEARS in our training center. We do not have PEARS instructors or PEARS instructor classes.

eCards have been in use at the MRTC for about 4 years now. AHA has not mandated the complete conversion to eCards yet, but it is eminent, so I recommend giving them a try BEFORE they are required. AHA has indicated you will be able to use up your papercards, I recommend you save a few for those students who do not have internet connections.

The Feedback Manikin requirement is coming due in January 2019. Any manikin or device that gives you compression rate and depth qualifies. I recommend you contact your current manikin rep and ask how you can convert your current manikins. We use all AHA vendors. If you purchase your manikins at World Point, Channing-Bete or Laerdal be sure to ask them if you can receive the MRTC’s discount. On our website “Ordering Materials” page see the World Point discount letter to our instructors.

Be sure you are using our current emails with @minnstate.edu and our website link: You can always Google “MnSCU MRTC” to get our most current address also.

As always, let us know if you have any input as to how we can serve you better.

Have a great summer!

Thanks for all of your great teaching,

Gayle Steiner
