Henkel Hosts First Food-Safe Packaging Forum in North America

Bridgewater, N.J. - The Henkel-hosted Food-Safe Packaging Forum was a unique event, bringing together experts from the packaging material supply chain to raise awareness, share insights, and learn best practices in a collaborative effort to advance food-safe packaging.

Henkel hosted the 2014 North America Food-Safe Packaging Forum on April 29 in Chicago, with over 80 attendees. It included a full day of presentations by experts from industry-leading companies across different sectors, as well as technical specialists from Henkel. In addition to formal presentations, the forum provided ample opportunities to network with the experts.

Key presentation topics included changing legislation, advanced testing methods, incorporating food safety into product development, and perspectives from different links along the packaging material supply chain.

Henkel believes food-safe packaging is an often overlooked key ingredient. Henkel’s commitment to food-safe packaging starts with an understanding that brands face complex and evolving risks. Brand owners need to be concerned with everything a consumer takes home, including the food packaging. Some of the key drivers impacting elevated industry expectations include recall avoidance, evolving legislation, heightened consumer awareness through social media and industry organizations, and the globalization of the supply chain.

“Collaboration across the full supply chain is critical to advancing food safety and quality in packaging. This inaugural North American Forum offered a platform for greater communication,” said Greg Fleming, Key Account Manager at Henkel. “This forum is one example of Henkel’s commitment to providing brands with food-safe packaging for their consumers.” As a partner to the food and beverage industry, Henkel is invested in holistic, interdisciplinary food-safe packaging expertise to help our customers protect their brands by mitigating risks related to food safety, quality, and compliance in food and beverage packaging.”

Henkel has a comprehensive approach to food-safe packaging, and has already hosted several food-safe packaging forums around the globe. Henkel will exhibit at Pack Expo Chicago 2014 from Nov. 2 to Nov. 5.
