Cash/money:
At lakeConstance (in this area)you will need some EURO (€) in cash for your extra expenses, e.g. taxi or bus fare, additional beverages, additional food, gifts, etc. Some places take credit cards, but some will not.
One way to obtain cash is to exchange some currency before you will arrive at lakeConstance
(e.g. ZurichAirport, Travelex (exchange company) ):
German Hotels usually are not prepared to change money (e.g. from USA or other countries abroad) and offer a worse rate of exchange.
However, there are automated teller machines at many German banks that will give you Euros in cash (against a certain fee usually).
Reimbursement of travel expenses
For the reimbursement of your travel expenses the Max Planck Institute, a state institution, requires
the following information and receipts:
1)Original receipts of travel (e.g. boarding stubs, train tickets, fuel receipts etc.)
2)Copy of the invoice of the travel expenses
3)Details of the bank account to which you want the money transferred (don’t forget your IBAN and BIC for international transfer)
4)Please write your expenses and bank details on a piece of paper (ideally on institute letterhead?) accompanied by a short sentence in which you ask the Max-Planck-Institute for Ornithology to reimburse your travel expenses for the Global Waterfowl Tracking Workshop 19. – 23.09.09 at LakeConstance
5)After returning home please send everything to:
Max-Planck-Institut für Ornithologie
