Dear Dr. Smith:

Help Us Help You! This is an important opportunity to represent your profession!

We are asking for your support of a national study about freestanding radiation oncology centers currently being sponsored by The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) and The Association for Freestanding Radiation Oncology Centers (AFROC).

This study will help document changes in the delivery of radiation oncology services in non-hospital settings and represents your opportunity to communicate accurate financial and operational information to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS recently announced in a national regulation that data from this survey will be used to help determine physician payment.

dmrkynetec, a survey firm with extensive experience in the area of physician practice finance, has been retained to administer the survey and will make data collection as convenient for you and your center as possible. dmrkynetec is a contributing member of the Council of American Survey Research Organizations (CASRO) and strictly adheres to its guidelines for conducting survey research.

Please be assured that this is a survey research project. No individual identifying information will be shared with any outside organization, including the government, the AMA, or the sponsoring societies. Your answers will be combined with those of other radiation oncologists and freestanding centers participating in the survey. If you have any questions about this research project, please call toll-free at 1-877-816-8940 and ask to speak with one of dmrkynetec’s executive interviewers about the 2008 Freestanding Radiation Oncology Center Study.

We know that your time is valuable. Therefore, before asking you to complete a full questionnaire, we would appreciate your help in determining if your center will be able to provide the type of information that will be required for this study. You can participate in this pre-qualification interview by telephone or by completing a brief questionnaire on-line.

If you choose to participate by phone, alert your staff regarding your willingness to participate in this survey and the importance of accepting incoming calls, faxes or emails from dmrkynetec. We expect that your prequalifying interview will take 5 minutes or less to complete. Alternatively, to complete a survey on-line, type the following address into your browser:

Your user-name is («WebUsername»), with the first 3 places being letters and the last 5 numbers. Your password is («WebPassword»), with the first 2 places being letters and the last 5 numbers.

Thank you in advance for your time and we hope that you will take the opportunity to participate in this critical study. Your involvement will make certain that the information collected will accurately represent your practice, patients, and profession.

Sincerely,

Timothy R. Williams, MD
