‘Help a Local Child to Dance’ Programme

What is the programme?

‘Help a Local Child to Dance’ Programme provides financial assistance and recognition, through awards and bursaries, for talented local dancers who are inspired by a passion to dance.

Awards

At Phillipa Hogan School of Dance, awards are offered to children who show exceptional talent in dancing ability and are not means tested. Awards are given with the promise to train a child through to achieving a ballet or tap, graded certification. No fees are payable for the duration of the training through to the child’s examination, of whatever grade the child is aiming for. Applicants will be awarded after an informal audition and assessment, they will be asked to participate in their appropriate class with existing pupils.

Applicants can apply for an award in either of the following categories:

  • Pre-Primary to Grade 4 ballet or tap
  • Grade 5 to Grade 8 ballet
  • Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate Ballet
  • Intermediate and Advanced 1 Tap

Awards are only offered to external applicants.

Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded on an informal assessment of financial need, and to a child who has proven talent in dance ability and shows a passion for dance. Bursary awards offer discount on dance class fees by fifty percent. These are available for up to 5 children, in any one school year, for a period of 12 months, commencing at the beginning of the Phillipa Hogan School of Dance year. A bursary will be awarded on a discretionary basis as identified by the principal Phillipa Hogan.

Applicants will be assessed for the bursary award by attending a regular class that is closest to the child’s current ability. Bursaries are available to external applicants as well as existing dance pupil of Phillipa Hogan School of Dance.
