Moving to the Middle East: A New Frontier for MMOG/LE
An article that Evan Quinn and I co wrote was recently published in the Odette Newsletter and placed on the Odette website. The article discusses a presentation that I delivered toExport Institute of Israelto introduce MMOG/LE. Clickhereto view the article. A special thank you goes out to Tim Conlon and our SIT partners Gili Konforti and Avner Avraham for helping to coordinate this event.
Ford North America MP&L Training includes Three QAD Assets
I recently had the opportunity to attend Ford’s Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) training at their corporate offices in Dearborn, Michigan. During this two-day training, Ford covers all of their customer-specifics for delivery performance, which includes such things as packaging, labeling, supplier ASNs, premium freight and MMOG/LE. The three QAD assets shown are included as a part of Ford’s supplier training. Ford shares our risk management video and then distributes our supply chain risk white paper immediately following the video to the suppliers attending the class. Also, included in the Ford MP&L training handbook is a copy of our automotive process map.
IATF 16949 formerly ISO TS/16949 is Now Available
On October 3, 2016, IATF 16949:2016 was released globally. IATF 16949:2016 will supersede and replace the current ISO/TS 16949, which defines the requirements of a quality management system for organizations in the automotive industry.
According to AIAG, over 66K+ global supplier sites (primarily Tier 1 and 2 suppliers) currently certified to the ISO/TS 16949 quality standard will need to transition to IATF 16949 by September 2018.Non-compliance could result in suspension of a supplier’s quality certification and limit their access to new business opportunities.

QAD QMS ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Solution Sheet is Here!
Michael Mallen (CEBOS), Jeff Phillips (CEBOS) and I recently completed the mapping of each of the 160 clauses/sub clauses in ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 to CEBOS/QAD QMS functionality. This solution sheet is similar what was developed for MMOG/LE.

Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC) Lauds QAD QMS
Predrag Jakovljevic (“PJ”), Principal Analyst at Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC) recently defined QAD QMS as a top-notch quality management system. Be sure to share thisarticlewith your customers and prospects to demonstrate the benefits of QAD QMS over our competition. In the article, Predrag mentions “QAD sponsored the recent AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) event and gave speeches there focused on automotive issues.”
Global Light Vehicle Sales Outlook Through 2018
I recently attended a LMC automotive outlook conference in Detroit. Shown on the right is LMC’s forecast for global vehicle sales through 2018. In the past few years, the industry has grown at a rate over 3 percent it won’t return to this pace until 2018. China will continue to be the major contributor to the growth in the global industry. The US and Europe are both projected to plateau. LMC analysts indicated that Brazil has reached the bottom and will slowly recover in the coming years.

Why 3D Printing Hasn’t Reached its MedTech Promise
When we speak to our medical device customers from around the world, we hear about the challenges they face and how they are addressing them. Some are concerned about their products becoming commoditized as the line blurs between highly-regulated and consumer devices. Many wonder how to differentiate their solutions among a wide range of competitive offerings from domestic and overseas competitors. Others know that surgeons expect companies to deliver holistic solutions that deliver tangible benefits, and that simple devices which meet single therapeutic needs may no longer suffice.
Additive manufacturing can help address some of these challenges and promises to reshape the way device companies bring products to market. 3-D printing allows for rapid prototyping and optimized design of innovative new solutions. Such an approach helps insulate companies against competition and shortens product development lifecycles and time to market.
Yet, despite the hype, the excitement about 3D printing isn’t universal, and a new day has not fully dawned on the industry. Thisrecent articlediscusses four reasons why.
Second UDI Customer

The Company's proprietary technology utilizes light to enable surgeons to change the power of a lens after it has been implanted in the eye. Calhoun Vision recently chose QAD Automated Solutions to help them meet their FDA Unique Device Identification (UDI) regulatory requirements and issued a P.O. for $56,000 in Services plus subscription for Automated Solutions.

Regulatory Review
It’s all about the patient. In past regulatory review discussions I have covered SOPs, Complaint Handling and our Qualified Cloud Environment. But why do our customers and QAD go through all of this effort?
“Um, Bart, you’re the Life Sciences guy, shouldn’t you know this?”
Of course, it’s simple. It’s all about the patient. Read more...

Ø  What To Do When You Have Too Much Information About Innovation
Do you feel overwhelmed by the endless stream of technology innovation? You’re not alone. It’s easy to become confused about which new technologies or trends are useful and which are passing fads or too immature.
At QAD, we constantly sift through emerging technologies to determine and eventually deploy innovations that benefit customers. Our technology investment decision-making challenge is of particular importance because many thousands of manufacturing sites depend on us being right. It also directly impacts QAD because we support our customers’ mission critical ERP in our QAD Cloud; in essence we have become our own largest customer.Read more.
