Sun City
WOW! What a terrific day!
If you missed this one, you missed the best open water swim of the year! The lake is sheltered from the wind, the course is well thought out and the weather was fantastic.
Phoenix easily claimed the club trophy with our top 4 swimmers all in the first ten.
Well done to Gregg Price (2nd), Quirin Kohler (3rd), Clare Davie (4th overall, 1st woman), and Clifford Garrun (8th) all in the masters event. Marissa Rollnick also placed in the top 5 in the women’s section.
Congratulations to all those who participated, and sincerest thanks to everyone who lent a hand. Special thanks to Anne, Barry and Phil who represented our club so enthusiastically on the organising committee.
Party
The annual end of year get together will be held at Phil & Chris’ place on Sat 1st Dec at 6:00pm. B.Y.O. food, drinks will be provided. Hope to see everyone (esp. new members) and their families there. Please let Anne (788 – 2456), Phil or Chris (447 - 3143) know if you will be attending, for catering purposes.
Kit
The club costumes have arrived and they look sensational!
If you have ordered but not paid, the time to get your money to Anne is NOW.
If you would still like to place an order, see the form at the end of this letter. There has been an increase in price due to an increase in the production costs but still represent great value
The cost of club costumes is: R110 – men & R160 – ladies.
Cloth badges are also available to add to towels, jackets etc. Convert your Old Ed’s Dri Mac into a Phoenix one easily and cheaply. These are R25.
Payments to Phoenix
Payments for kit and deposits for accommodation for Nationals may be paid directly into the Phoenix bank account, BUT YOU MUST FAX A COPY OF THE DEPOSIT SLIP THROUGH TO ANNE WITH DETAIL OF WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR! (Ask at the bank, they will often do this for you free of charge.)

Many of our members have met our president Don Johnston’s world record holding brother, Graham. Well, according to Don he has been up to his old tricks again, having recently aged up. At a local meet in the States (where he now lives), Graham swam the 1500m freestyle in the 70-74 age group and broke the world record. Now for the good bit! –He also broke the 200m, 400m and 800m world records on the way!!! Awesome swim.
