The theme of the symposium aiming to take stock of what is known on the Venetian“Gros Point”, it seems important to make an inventory of as many items as possible.
Thank you in advance for helping us create a corpus by answering this questionnaire,if possible before June 30th, 2008.
For the symposium in June 2009, you can prepare a poster (A0 format ; 84 x 120cm.), with illustrations and texts.
1st - Do you have any needle-lace pieces worked in Venitian “Gros Point”
2nd - Among these items in “Gros Point”, are there any which could be documented :Origin of the order, identity of an important client, known origin of the item, etc…?
3rd - Do you own pieces of lace with a precise date of execution, either through documentsor maybe a date worked into the lace ?
4th - Do you own any item of unfinished lace or still on their original support?
5th - Do your “Gros Point” pieces have very different styles?
6th - Are your items re-assembled (that is originating from separated pieces) or on thecontrary of an even workmanship?
7th - Have any of your pieces of lace benefited from a study?
8th - Do you have anybody, a member of your team, an associate or benevolent researcher,who could study pieces of your collection?
9th - Do you have anybody, a member of your team, an associate or benevolent researcher,who could answer precise questions[1] about the analysis of your pieces of lace?

Could you send us please, inventory cards for your pieces, pictures with dimensions(if your items have a pattern repeat, could you please make sure that it ismentioned).
These pieces could be publishes within a detailed corpus.

[1]These questions would be such : which technique would be used to build up picots ? Are they made with button-hole stitches or another technique ? Are the bars decorated, with which stiches and in which proportions ? Are they single, double or ramified and in which proportions ? Are the padded raised designs shaped or not ? Are they decorated, with which stiches and in which proportion ? Are they more on the inside or on the border of the designs and in which proportion ? etc.
