Heartland Art Guild of Miami County, Kansas
The Heartland Art Guild is excited to announce we will award a $500.00 Scholarship to a graduating high school senior who is interested in pursuing a career in art. We ask that high school counselors and staff please distribute this information to the appropriate students. Thank you for your assistance.
Eligibility: Student must be a Miami County graduating senior pursuing a course of study in an art or art related career, with a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or above in art courses.
Procedure for applying: Contact and submit the following requirements to either Ben Maimer of Osawatomie at 913-755-3504, Patsy Bortner of Louisburg at 913-837-3335 or Rita Beckford of Paola at 913-294-9467. The required information and portfolio must be submitted before the end of the day, March 6. Please feel free to call with any questions you may have regarding the procedure.
Requirements:
- Completed application form
- Two letters of recommendation
- Official high school transcript
- Portfolio or artwork (5-10 pieces) with index page listing work included
Portfolio: The 5 – 10 pieces of artwork may include 2 dimensional and or 3 dimensional work. Any 2 dimensional work should be matted. Sketchbooks may be used as one item and need not be matted. Slides may be presented in lieu of actual work if the artwork is not available or is too fragile for presentation. Index page should include title of each work, media used, dimensions of the piece, and description and any honors earned. All artwork will be returned after the selection process is completed, unless the student needs the artwork returned sooner due to other shows or competitions.
Selection: The awarding of this scholarship (if any) will be at the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee of the Heartland Art Guild. The decision of the Committee is expected by March 15.
Payment of Scholarship: $500.00 will be presented to the recipient of this award after proof of enrollment and eight weeks of attendance at an accredited academic institution.
