Improvement priority: Effective teaching of reading comprehension strategies.
Strategy: Alignment of the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) to the teaching of reading comprehension strategies.Actions / Targets / Timelines / Responsible Officer/s
- Facilitate teachers in pairs to plan, implement, store as a resource and give each other feedback on GRR aligned reading comprehension lessons.
- Provide professional training for all new staff in GRR and reading comprehension strategies from Pedagogical Framework.
- Provide each teacher with one hour per day of trained literacy aide time targeting differentiated teaching of reading comprehension skills.
- Being responsive to a range of data collected from all classes according to assessment schedule.
Strategy : Extend synthetic phonics to Year 1.

These Probe Sets in the yellow and green coloured columns are a guide of the levels where students should be achieving at the mid-point and at the end of each school year in order to achieve the result indicated in the column at the next scheduled NAPLAN Test for that child – for example – to be achieving above NMS in the Yr 5 NAPLAN Test a student at the mid-year point in Year 4 should be at Set 9.
