INTRA-EMPLOYEE RELATIONSCOMMITTEE

FOURNIER, IVERSEN

April 26, 2007

Also at the meeting were Kathy Sinnott-Gardner and Tracy Baker.

Kathy Sinnott-Gardner said there was a meeting this morning about the newsletter. They have decided to make it a theme newsletter and start out with a Fourth of July issue. Some of the ideasare: a recipe for apple pie, talk with department heads, give area restaurant reviews, a column on safety tips, Otsego County Fair information, asking for suggestions for future articles, advertising the farmers market, contact the Director of the Chamber of Commerce about what is going on in the county; publish fishing sites and boat ramps, spot light departments, putting in the committee mission statement and a summary of the Intra-Employee Relations committee minutes.

Representative Fournier said the suggestion box for the CountyOfficeBuilding is next to the elevator on the first floor. There were a couple of suggestions in the box.

1-Take down the maps next to elevator, they are out of date - Butch Jones will take care of changing them; he is working with Brian Pokorny so they can be printed off of the computer.

2-Someone suggested a boot scraper and brush by the front door for people who need to clean off their boots. Representative Fournier will talk with Doug Czerkies and see what he thinks.

3-Gripes about department heads; this is something the committee will not look at.If a person has a problem, he or she should go through the proper channels and file a grievance.

Employees at The Meadows Building did not know there was a suggestion box. At Otsego Manor the box is up, but it cannot be found. Hopefully, as the weeks go by employees will become aware of the boxes, and the committee will get more suggestions.

At last month’s meeting discussion was held on breaks lasting too long and employeestaking more than he or she is entitled to. Representative Fournier said he brought this up at the Administration Committee meetingon April 25, 2007. Personnel Director Jennie Eitapence is putting together a break policy for all county employees to follow. Hopefully, this is a positive step forward.

Representative Fournier will talk with Brian Pokorny on getting a list for the next round of longevity honorees.

Discussion was held on sending out a reminder notice for the IER Committee meetings. Kathy Sinnott-Gardner said she would send emails to everyone each month.

Representative Fournier said the committee would continue discussing the survey results next month. He will also talk with John Imperato about a county picnic.

There being no further business to discuss, the committee adjourned untilThursday, May 24, 2007 at 10:00.
