Health Care Procedures Training –Term 4, 2015

This program is one of the two types of training defined in the Joint Statement On Role Boundaries In The Provision Of Support At School For Students Requiring Health Care Procedures (2005). It addresses content related to the role of the school learning support officer in the delivery of health care procedures in schools. The other type of training is the specific training given by a health care professional at your school with the student and according to the student’s individual Health Care Plan.

This program is delivered by a qualified nurse educator and is facilitated by your region’s representative. School Learning and Support Officers will be required to participate in group discussions, complete activity sheets and demonstrate your knowledge and understanding in the following areas: Infection Prevention, Standard Precautions, hand washing, tube feeding, suctioning and catheter care.

Upon successful completion of this program, you will be awarded the Certificate in Health Care Procedures in Schools. This certificate is current for two years. Recertification is required prior to expiry of your current certificate. Details of dates, venues and MYPL@EDU registration details appear below. Participants will be emailed a copy of the relevant training materials which they will need to print and bring to the training.
