DETAIL

Children and Young People’s Partnership – 16 November 2016– Minutes attached at Appendix 1

Safeguarding Pupil Survey

Members received a report relating to the outcomes of a Stockton survey with secondary aged pupils and the implications of the outcomes for future service planning.

The Partnership agreed that this had been an extremely important piece of work and had genuinely helped all partners to understand the voice of young people a little more.

Members noted some of the work that was being undertaken as a result of the survey:

• A training programme, devised to enable educational professionals to access appropriate training and guidance to build capacity in schools to support pupils better.

• Schools would be invited to participate in a pilot, funded through the Future in Mind work, to trial a hub approach to services.

• Services would ensure their pathways were more explicit, so schools were aware of what could be accessed and how this could be available in a timely manner.

The survey would be repeated in 2018 to benchmark progress.

Maternity Services

The Partnership received three presentations that increased members’ knowledge in the following areas

-Gestation Related Optimal Weight (GROW)

-Smoking during pregnancy

-UNICEF Breastfeeding Audit

Members noted that the GROW project had seen the induction rate increase by 5% but outcomes were still good at delivery and produced better long term outcomes.

The Partnership was informed that Fairer Start Champion Programme was being considered in terms of promoting the UNICEF breastfeeding standards.

Domestic Abuse Event

Members received feedback coming from the above event.

During discussion the Partnership received an update on the Domestic Abuse Transformational funding bid that Cleveland Police were involved in with other Forces in the region

The Partnership also received a report on the CYP Emotional Health and Wellbeing Strategy, which this Board endorsed at its October meeting
