The location and dangers of asbestos in the building.

Safe use of computers:

Has a Workstation Self-assessment been completed by the new starter? Point to the guidance contained in the Health & Safety Folder.
Is any training required in use of house software?
Refer to IT procedures and point to global drive/quality manual & to H & S guidance notes available in H&S Folder or from the Health & Safety Advisor.

Manual handling:

Will new starter be lifting regularly, or lifting very heavy items e.g. boxes, people, furniture?
Has starter had manual handling training?
Instruct starter not to lift until training is given (advice on manual handling is in the H & S Folder).
Personal Safety:
Is the new starter going off site as part of their work?
Instruct the new starter in safety procedures (global drive/quality manual) and local/team arrangements.
Will the new starter need Personal Safety Training?
Immunisation:
Will starter be working face to face with clients?
If they are; discuss any inoculations recommended for staff who perform similar duties. Direct them to the Communicable Diseases Policy.
Employee Assistance Programme:
Advise all contracted new starters of the employee assistance programme and how it can be accessed.
(A copy of the leaflet/contact cardwill be sent to home address of employee)
