Spring 2008 Conference – 15th Anniversary – April 6-8 in Orlando, FL

  • Expand offerings to diversified, broadened audiences-SPS
  • Seek diverse topics and speakers and explore new delivery modes-SPS
  • Explore the HBMAUniversity concept-SPS
  • Address affordability of programs through new tiered pricing-SPS
  • Explore new conference formats such as double or triple concurrent sessions-SPS
  • Document effectiveness of programs via evaluations, surveys, testing, website responses and trend information-SPS
  • Investigate joining the National Association of Certifying Boards to secure accreditation of HBMA educational programs-SPS

Ethics & Compliance Committee

Finance Committee

  • Complete the 2007 budget-February Board Meeting
  • Write new P & P for finance & investment-ongoing
  • Develop an association investment policy, including maintenance of cash reserves of six months of operating revenue-SPS

Government Relations Committee

  • Retain the services of a qualified advocacy firm at the federal level to proactively influence regulatory policy and other decision makers-SPS
  • Establish advocacy objective, priorities in conjunction with Government Relations Committee: communicate activities to Board and membership, triage inquiries and requests-SPS
  • Maintain a high level of communications with relevant government agencies and policy makers as well as other professional associations-SPS
  • Triage state information that might have federal implications and consider action on the most important issues-SPS

Vendor Affiliate Advisory Committee

  • Continue to develop “value added” activities that promote membership in HBMA and participation/sponsorship of HBMA events
  • Review the vendor affiliate policy and develop a process to monitor compliance
  • Renegotiate the contract with Moneris
  • Bring Ingenix into the affinity program

Publications & Communications Committee

  • Publish statistics and survey results and send information to appropriate legislative, regulatory, and trade association groups-SPS
  • Publish the HBMA Annual Report
  • Print one issue of Billing
  • Create greater readership of Billing
  • Continue to look at potential partnerships with organizations such as Decision Health

Public Relations Committee

  • Develop a public relations initiative including on-line ad campaign, press releases, speakers program, articles, etc.-SPS
  • Consider exhibiting at relevant trade shows-SPS

  • Determine best measure for member retention and acquisition of new members-SPS
  • Revisit dues structure and strategies-SPS
  • Target potential new members via mailing lists-SPS
  • Target new members by emphasizing communications and value added benefits-SPS
  • Determine reasons why potential members don’t join, why members leave and develop a targeted marketing plan-SPS
  • Write new policies and procedures for the Committee

Survey Committee

  • Identify the three most important recipient groups, collect data elements from members, and disseminate information to the groups (Number of providers, number of claims processed, total gross charges, total number of encounters and number of FTE’s employed)-SPS
  • Develop a process to obtain more complete, in-depth information for operations, e.g. benchmarking data-SPS

  • Ensure that management agreements and staffing levels are in line with the strategic plan and ASAE recommended standards-SPS
  • Require Committee Chairs to submit annual work plans which are monitored quarterly and reported to the Board. Policies and procedures will be developed for all Committees. Committee minutes and documents will be published on the HBMA Website-SPS
  • Develop job descriptions, goals, timeframes and performance evaluations for each position-SPS
  • Improve the process and materials to orient new Board members and better document Board action items-SPS
