Libby Grundy, Director of the Food for Life Partnership says:

"I'm delighted to announce that Haworth Primary School has achieved the Food for Life Partnership Gold Award for creating a healthy, sustainable and enjoyable food culture within the school and its community to the benefit of everybody involved.
"The school shows what real 21st century education is all about, which is using real life experiences to teach the curriculum and providing the next generation with solutions to what threatens their future, namely climate change and the obesity crisis. By empowering the people to make informed food choices and giving them the skills to grow and cook food for themselves and their families, Haworth leads the way for a more sustainable future."

Quote from Head teacher - Janet Parkinson

“I am so proud of all the staff, governors, children and families who have worked together tirelessly, towards our goal of achieving the Gold Food for Life Partnership award, as part of the vision for our school. Our personalised ‘Green’ ethos and curriculum at Haworth Primary ensures that our children grow up making healthier choices and are fully prepared to embrace the challenges of sustainability in their adult lives. “

The School celebrated their achievement with a “Golden Day” in July. All the children released Golden Eco-friendly helium balloons and along with the parents enjoyed an afternoon tea whilst being entertained by Haworth Brass Band. There was also a Great Haworth Bake Off with parents and pupils competing for prizes with decorated cup cakes, scones and biscuits. They were auctioned off with the money going to Save the Children.
